EOS Bodies / Next: Canon EOS 2D?
« on: November 30, 2012, 01:38:00 PM »
Browsing GlobalMediaPro's website I ran into this: https://www.globalmediapro.com/dp/A2H3A4/Canon-EOS-2D-Digital-SLR-Camera-Body/

It looks like a placeholder for a soon-to-be product. With the picture of the 1DX (although the 1DX has its own product page and its not this one)...

could this be the high megapixel camera to be announced?

Lenses / Tamron 70-200mm VC Shows up on the net
« on: October 26, 2012, 11:08:22 PM »
http://www.photowarehouse.co.nz/tamron-sp-af-70-200-f2-8-di-vc-usd-canon?ref=pricespy

The Photo Warehouse (A somewhat big retailer in New Zealand) has listed the 70-200mm VC for 1978 NZD, roughly 1600 USD.

Maybe the price is an estimation of their own, if not, then we know now how much its gonna hurt our pockets... too much.

Lenses / 35mm f2 or 40mm f2.8?
« on: August 22, 2012, 10:13:51 PM »
Hey there guys!

I've been using a 7D with a wonderful 24mm f1.4 for traveling and such, and now I'm about to buy a used 5Dc, and want to have the same angle of view. So what do you think? 35mm f2 or 40mm f2.8? is there much of a difference (IQ and aperture aside)?

And what about the other differences? (Build quality, AF, optics)

Cheers

EOS Bodies - For Stills / 5D mkI vs 60D for walkaround/travel
« on: July 30, 2012, 01:08:21 AM »
Hello there! I'm about to sell my "cheap travel kit" and found out I can actually get around 1000 USD for it.

So, what should I get to replace it? I use mainly a 7D and a 5D mkII occasionally for work, but I want a cheap camera I don't need to care about for walkaround everyday use. My "cheap travel kit" as of now is a 20D, 18-55 IS and 70-200 f4.

I don't really care for video (although it would be nice). I want somewhat portable and lightweight. But ruggedness is a very welcome feature.

In the price range, I found many used but in good condition 5D mkI, refurbished 60D, and the new and raved about, Olympus OM-D.

Any thoughts about this?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / How do you check your shutter count?
« on: February 18, 2012, 11:43:47 AM »
I know the web is full of info on this, but the common conclusion I end up with is "only Canon official service can tell you", and most of the threads are really old.

So I come here to ask again... do you guys know of a way to check the shutter count of a camera?

I bought a 20D for $45 on ebay, AF not working. I sent it to a non-official Canon service to get it fixed, but I'm still wondering, how much life the shutter has left...

any ideas?

Lenses / Tamron 17-50mm VC B005 vs B005E revisions?
« on: February 09, 2012, 10:43:28 PM »
Hey all, I'm browsing a bit trying to find good prices on the Tamron 17-50mm VC, and I find that even though Tamron only states this lens as the B005, there are a few stores that have a B005E revision.

Does anyone know the difference? Is this a revision from the "Tamron lens Phenomenon" with the cross-type AF sensors?

Cheers
