I don't think I could have said it better myself. I know this is a GEAR site, but it always pays to keep things in perspective. Well said, KW.

EOS Bodies / Canon APS-H mirrorless rumor from the past...

Thought I'd dredge this up to add a little fuel to the fire.

So far this year we have a 24, a 28, and the 24-70. And I guess the 500, 600, and 200-400 will be official soon. What's next, and when? Any thoughts?

From the various rumors we've been hearing over the last few months, I'm getting the feeling that Canon is about to revamp their entire line of EF primes.

Possibly all at once, even.

I just wonder if they'll turn them all into EF-S lenses, and keep EF mainly for L and specialty lenses from here on out?

Lenses / Hey Rumor Guy: What about any LENS rumors?
« on: September 26, 2011, 09:22:16 AM »
I know everyone is talking about camera bodies right now, but I'm perfectly happy with my 7D and 5DII, not interested in a new body.

I AM interested in a few new lenses, however. I have all the lenses I want from the currently available selection, and am waiting on the following lenses which I feel are likely due for replacement:

TS-E 45mm f2.8 Tilt-Shift (Looking for the new T-S design, with fully configurable T-S orientations)
EF 180mm f3.5 L Macro (How about a 185mm f3.2 L H-IS update?)
EF 35mm f1.4 L (Updated optics, just a little sharper, please)

Are you hearing anything on these? Any thoughts?

Thanks

EOS Bodies / Very interesting movie camera comparo...
« on: June 17, 2011, 05:43:56 PM »
Here is a link to a VERY interesting technical documentary comparing currently available single-chip movie-capable cameras, including the Canon 7D, 5DII, and 1DIV. Well-done, interesting, and extremely educational. Part 1 of 3, the rest coming in the next 2 months.

I know this is not exactly a rumor-based post, but the clip does give one some insight into what the Canon engineers are up against, and what areas they will likely be trying to improve in forthcoming movie-centric camera models.

Have a look, the results may be somewhat surprising, especially concerning how the Canon cameras compare to each other. I'm not a movie guy, but still thought this was pretty good stuff.
