Lenses / Re: 70-200 f4 IS

I read somewhere that canon was updating its older lenses because they didn't have the resolving power to keep up with the latest sensors.

Lenses / 70-200 f4 IS

Anyone know how old this lens is, and when it's due to be updated?

Loved my Phottix Odin TTL remote flash triggers for Canon, until two of them suddenly stopped working with very little use.

Sure, stuff happens, but Phottix isn't responding to my emails about getting them repaired/replaced under warranty. Thus right now they're just two over-priced paper weights, and I'm wondering how long the other two will continue to function. (Could lousy customer service be a cultural phenomenon?)

Ok, Canon. It's been three months and this still isn't fixed.  Let's get a move on!

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 5dm3 custom shooting modes useless?

Thanks for the info! (Took me a few seconds to understand the term "wetware"...)

EOS Bodies - For Stills / 5dm3 custom shooting modes useless?
« on: July 31, 2012, 07:00:38 PM »
Why? Because anything that gets changed while in a custom mode, say a focus point, reverts to the registered value when the body goes in to sleep mode. Hope that's something that can be remedied in firmware...

Is there a codec available yet to allow ms windows 7 to display 5d3 raw files?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / 5D3 Rate button
« on: May 06, 2012, 01:44:38 PM »
It would be REALLY helpful, Canon, it this otherwise useless button (like the Print button on the original 5D) was made programmable.

So a SanDisk CF Extreme III 30MB/s Edition 8GB can keep up with the 6fps rate, with a burst capacity of 29 frames. So the only advantage to a faster-than-30mb/s is burst capacity.

But the fastest SD cards can only handle bursts of 22 frames, suggesting that they may not be able to handle 6fps. Is there a way to calculate the real frame rate for an SD card, or infer it from Rob's data (which is awesome)?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: file name scramble

Thanks.

WHY is a puzzle to me too.

Whatever, that should be documented in the Filename section.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / file name scramble

Tools menu>file name>User setting 2.

Put in any three letters you want. Canon will subsequently name your files with the three letters IT chooses, and in whatever order IT feels like.

MCB + Image size became _CBL0136 (image size missing), then _CBMxxxx

I then transposed the letters to try to get the sequence I wanted, but

BCM + Image size became _CMMxxxx

I admit to being mildly dyslexic, but...

EOS Bodies / Re: The Light Leak Issue

I was going to say what Fleetie said. He's right, and your tests indicate that. (So the new plan is to accept the camera when it arrives...)

EOS Bodies / 5D3 bug pool?

Is there a way to have an online pool for when the first bug report for this body goes viral?

EOS Bodies / Re: Hugely Disappointed In 5D III Price
« on: March 06, 2012, 08:51:19 PM »
CR writes "It’s also rumored Canon will regulate the price of this camera starting in May."

That used to be called price fixing, and was illegal...

EOS Bodies / Next Canon body this year?
« on: March 04, 2012, 01:16:15 PM »
CR mentioned another body is in the rumor mill for this year. How is that rumor shaping up (especially as the 5D3 is so overpriced)?
