I would actually think about 6D, it's wi-fi function may be quite usefull in studio work.

I would go for the mkII and buy together a specific lens, like ts-e 90 or a 100 macro .
If you don't need the lens, i would the same go with the MKII unless you need to use the camera for other application.
The AF is not going to be important, i would use live view, all the same i would use the EG-S focusing screen that lets you see better focus accuracy and that it is not avalaible for the MKIII.

I had chance to play with it last bout one year ago at Roma photo show. They did not allow me to take any picture, but it was indeed lighter than i thought. It had quite fast AF but cannot say anything about IQ or price.
It won't be for me, i'd prefer 4002.8 or 600 f4.

I have a deep interest in nature, and i really like butterflies (spider and snake as well), so Hyles it is a genus of moths belonging to the Sphingidae's family. First time I was looking for a name it was available, so i kept using it.
Attached an adult Hyles livornica while feeding, and a young caterpillar of Hyles euphorbiae.

EOS Bodies / Re: Your thoughts on M-RAW vs RAW in 1DX vs 5D3
« on: December 07, 2012, 01:58:14 PM »
I do often use mraw on my 60D when shooting wedding. Mainly to save space and time when i back up.
Before using this smaller raw file I took a sample picture with sraw+ Ljpg and printed  30x45 cm the L JPG and the smaller jpeg i got from the raw and did not notice any difference. The I started using it when i don't need the maximum resolution.

EOS Bodies / Re: New crop bodies coming!
« on: November 10, 2012, 01:13:34 AM »
So, do you think I should keep my 60D and wait, or i'm better jump to nikon?
If I'm better jumping, should I do it right now or am I better waiting for the 4900D to be out?

Canon General / Re: Canon's MAP Pricing Goes Into Full Effect Today
« on: November 02, 2012, 01:34:49 PM »
I think MAP  may even be to save other market. In Italy the difference between official price and the price you could find buying intenet (off course not Italian warranty and so on) is very step, so that it may have led to low sales of canon imported products. I have seen shop selling less canon cameras and pushing nikon because they could not compete with internet prices. A MAP policy may lead to more difficult black market product and incresing officially imported cameras.

For what concerne 5DIII price, the fact that it is so higher the the d800 may be because while d800 has new sensor but kept same AF and is less different fron d700, developing 5DIII thay had to develop new sensor, new AF, new body and new everithing. It could not be less expensive than d800.

Lenses / Re: EF-M 55mm f/1.3 Coming in 2013? [CR1]
« on: October 31, 2012, 04:18:03 PM »
"For arguments sake, that would give an approximate field of view of 90mm f/1.3. A nice portrait lens for the new system."

Just to clarify, it would be the approximate equivalent of a 90mm f/2.0 FF lens. You have to take the crop factor into account when comparing apertures as well as focal lengths.

You are right if yuo think about Dept of field, but in term of shutter speed the aperture it is still faster (must admit that with crop you have to use faster speed to avoid shake).

EOS Bodies / Re: 60D or t4i for video?
« on: October 22, 2012, 01:00:12 AM »
I would go for the 60D, i don't think there will be a gret difference in image quality, but 60D has the ability to use ISO in 1/3 step and has a longer battery life.
It could be a good choice the eos 600D if you are interested in the full HD crop mode (3X and 10X) this function is present in the eos M too.

EOS Bodies / Re: Why are flash sync shutter speeds getting worse?
« on: September 25, 2012, 02:10:07 AM »
When balancing ambient and flash light in low light, i usually use speed of 1/100, sometimes faster and with static subject even slower.
In low iso's bright light shot, even 1/250 is a slow speed if you don't want to use narrow f-stop. In this case i switch to HSS.
Although a shorter sinc speed would have been mutch better, i don't  see 1/180vs 1/200 to be a real problem .
As far as i remenber the only eosD to have 1/500 was the 1D with its fast 1/16000 shutter. But it used a CCD, so the faster sinc was obtained cutting power to the sensor instead of closing the shutter, this was (is?) not possible with cmos, this is why this feature was not present on other reflx.

Canon General / Re: Loving Canon right now.
« on: September 18, 2012, 05:00:33 AM »
I think IQ of 6D will turn to be at least as good as 5DIII.
I don't think d600 is better, it is different, but i do think that what is missing to 6D is the fact that canon fans cannot say "Canon is better". It seems to me that it is not really importat what the camera can do, but it is more importat that it can do it better than any nikon. So it is allway canon vs nikon, " I have canon, so canon must be better" otherway i'll be uppset.

One of the most popular snake shots on my flickr-site...

Yellow Mamba in a Tree by K3ntFIN, on Flickr

Are you sure that's a Yellow Mamba? I thought they only comes in Black & Green.
 ;D Anyway... She's a beauty...

Not 100% sure, but that's what I remember the sign saying. I need to go back to this reptilian zoo and check these out again, especially that I now know how to better control my camera.  :D

It is not a mamba, thats for sure. It should be a palm pit viper of the genus Bothriechis

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 6D Specs Leaked?
« on: September 14, 2012, 11:14:58 PM »
The only think i really don't understand is the AF, I am not bothered by the 11 poit, but it seems strange to have just central poit cross type, it would be better the 60D 9 cross type point.
But anyway the only think i will focus on is IQ, if it will be great, and i think it will be on pair with 5DIII, i will get it, for my use 20 mp it is enough, 4.5 fps either.
I would like 100% wiefinder, dual card, crop mode in fullHD, all cross type focus point... but i can even live without those if IQ is good.
