Video & Movie / Coverting 6D video for iMovie
« on: August 15, 2013, 09:24:40 AM »
Forgive my lack of knowledge...I am attempting to put together a montage of clips filmed with a 6D and 24-105L.  I have imported to LR4...but am unable to easily export into iMovie due to the file type.

I have been using a trial of a video converter but I am hoping there is a free alternative out there.  I don't need anything fancy.

How can I take my 6D clips and format them for .mov ?

I really appreciate the responses.

I do believe the 24-105 is what I am looking for but I need people to tell me it!

The 70-300 I think is too long for me.

I should have bought the 6D with the kit I suppose but at the time I was just reading too many mixed reviews.

Lenses / new lens advice

Hi All,

I need help. I "believe" I need a new lens but you know how that goes. I have a 6D body. The only lens I have is 85mm f/1.8. I primarily enjoy shooting people but from time to time I enjoy the ability to shoot landscape, etc.

The problem is...I don't know IF/WHAT I need.

For example...there was a robin's nest on my porch with three blue eggs in it that I wanted to photograph. I had to climb high on a ladder to focus with the 6D and 85mm.

What would best suit my needs?

I can spend roughly $1,000 but I'd rather keep it in the 7-800 range.

Lenses / Lens Not Focusing
« on: May 09, 2013, 08:55:36 PM »
I have a Canon 50mm f/1.8 that seems to have lost its ability to focus.  I know this is a "cheap" lens but it has not suffered any falls or damage.  There is nothing rattling around inside.  I am using it on a 6D.  The lens constantly is rotating trying to focus but never actually does.

Any ideas what could be wrong?  Anything I can try to remedy the issue?

I don't see them as an authorized dealer?  Does anyone know for sure or how this works?  I'd like to purchase the 6D.  My main question is...does purchasing it through them void the warranty through Canon?

My budget is flexible.  This does seem what it comes down to 6D vs. 5DIII.  I'm not sure I can justify the 5D.  90% of my shots are still.

EOS Bodies / Body upgrade advice

Hi all,

I am in need of some educated advice.  I am looking to move out of the rebel lineup.  I have a T3 currently.  I use an 85mm f/1.8 on it primarily.

I primarily enjoy portraits.  What do you view as being my best option?

I can struggled with AF in lowlight with the T3 so I am looking for an upgrade when it comes to autofocus.  Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks.
