I was in Norway in September with my 5DM3 + 24-70L mark 1. It was basically raining the entire time I was there, but I had an itinerary of hikes I had to do. I basically hiked with it in the rain constantly, and it held up just fine. It was normal rain fall, not heavy storm, and I had the camera in a holster case some of the time. The lens was weather sealed with a B+W slim UV filter.

Newbies can buy 5DM3's too, just like 16 year olds given brand new BMWs by their parents when they get their license. Probably not the most ideal way to go, but its their money and time they're expending.

Hi. When you folks post your amazing landscape shots, could you also post the shot settings (Aperture, ISO, filter, time, handheld, etc.?) I learn a lot from looking at others' photos and their settings. Thanks.

Lenses / Re: Advice for trip to Hawaii

I went to Hawaii (Oahu, Maui, Lanai, Molokai) in February with my t2i, 16-35mm II, and 24mm II. My plan was to photograph landscape/scenery, and very little people. I used the zoom for all the landscape/scenery shots. I used the prime for the sunrise/sunset and night shoots. I have a 5D3 now, like you, and I would probably still use a similar setup. For the family shots, I'd probably bring along the 70-200L as your 3rd lens.

Do I need to install Firmware update v1.1.2, before I can install v1.1.3? Or does v1.1.3 include the fixes from v1.1.2 also? I haven't installed any updates yet on my Light-Leak version 5DM3.

Third Party Manufacturers / Monopod with 3 legs - opinions?

Hi all,

I'll be traveling to Norway in several months, and I travel light. I plan on taking my 5D3 along with my 24-70L I and 24L f/1.4 II. I'd like to do some night / low light shots, so I intend to bring along a tripod or monopod. I found a general-sized tripod (a generic brand I bought at Fry's) to be too cumbersome for someone trying to travel light, yet I like to bring some good photographic equipment and general electronics (laptop, chargers, mp3s, Point and Shoot, etc.). Has anyone used monopods with the 3 legs stand while out on travel? What are your opinions? Reliable except for the most important shoots? Reliable until there are slight wind gusts? Here are two I saw at B&H that I'm considering:

Figured you folks might get a giggle out of this, or a shiver. Friend decided to photograph us participating in a mud run. He ended up participating in the mud run, with the camera. This was the end result.

Hi folks. Been lurking since August, when I bought my first DSLR, a Rebel t2i. Now ordered a 5DM3 to learn FF.

I ordered my 5DM3 + lens kit on 03/15/2012 from B&H. They shipped it 03/22, but said I won't receive it until 03/29. Most likely due to my standard shipping, and it coming from New York to California where I live.
