I got mine from and waited maybe only 2 weeks.  Their prices are very good and way better than the prices on eBay. They don't charge your card until it ships so if you find one earlier you can just cancel the order.

thanks everyone fore the help.

i've sent an email to couple people and waiting for a response but thanks for all the help.

any photographers you guys recommend as well?

So my girlfriend got me a Canon 5D mark iii last Christmas and while its a great camera, feel a little overwhelmed with it since I haven't taken a photo class since college.  And yes, there are a million resources online and in books, but I always like hands-on learning directly from the teacher.

So I was wondering if there are any workshops or photographers who provide lessons. Does not matter the location since I love to travel but preferably away from the Midwest (born and raised in Illinois).

I'm into landscape, cityscape, street, night, long exposure, and HDR, but I really like anything related to photography.

Thanks in advance

And Canon are selling the Lens without a Case (The case is a $650 extra), first time I've seen that with a "Big White" and I currently own the 200/300/400 & 600, all came included with the case, strange indeed.

Both BH and Adorama says the lens case is included, unless I'm reading it wrong.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Canon 5D Mark iii + 50 1.4 ii?

I believe you're conflating the 50mm f/1.4 USM and the 50mm f/1.2 L II USM, which is confusing some folks.  there's a vast price difference between the two.

if you're referring to the 50 f/1.4 USM, yes, at ~$350 US or so it's a great price for a great lens.

if you're referring to the 50 f/1.2 L II USM, at ~$1500 US or so it's probably not a best first-purchase lens unless you really know for sure it's what you want.  even if you know a 50mm focal length and wide-open shooting is what you want, a lot of people still decide to go with the cheaper 50 f/1.4 USM instead.

oh thats my fault. I meant I am getting then 50mm 1.4 over the 50mm 1.2.

but on another note, this forum is great and just a wealth of information.

Thank you everyone for your help.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Canon 5D Mark iii + 50 1.4 ii?
« on: January 03, 2013, 02:49:19 AM »
After a couple of years in film photography and playing around with a t1i, my girlfriend surprised me with a 5D mark iii.  However, I had to buy a lens since I didn't get one with it but don't really had the funds so decided to get a 50mm f/1.4 ii.  Will it be a decent combo, until I do buy a better lens? Is there a better choice at this point? Any help would be great.

Thank you

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Canon EOS 5D Mark III Body for $2599 via eBay

so its just the 1 year warranty right? so if you buy from lets say BVI for 2499, you could still pay for the repairs correct?
honestly with a brand new camera that costs $3k, shouldn't we not expect to repair it within a year, or at least if it needs repair that it would cost under $500 dollars at least?

Because Big Value Inc isn't an authorized dealer, are these still under the Canon warranty? I understand that Canon has the choice to either accept the warranty or not but if it's not is it really worth the discount?
