Not unnoticed and in your opinion.  If this were true. the 5D3 MSRP whould have risen **significantly** in either June or late September. 

In mine,  the market place is having more of an impact.

call them, see what happens.  For cross-border shopping don't use UPS ground - the fees are unnecessarily high.

Still too much vitriol about a camera that none of you have tried, or even read a review.

Where will you all be if the hands-on reviews come in praising how well it focuses? Too busy poisoning some other thread or product I suppose.

BTW it IS a cross-type AF sensor with f2.8 lenses.

it is as legitimate as it can get other than a hand deliver by Haruo Murase with personal instruction by Masami Kawasaki.

my take on this ---

the d600 with those specs and build is no real threat to canon at $2200.  If anything, its a bad move on nikons part because the price gap between it and the d800 is too low.  [...]

I think its a shot across the  bow of the 5D III, at a introductory price of US$2100 from 3 US different retailers.

is the 5D III worth the approximate $800 difference? To me  - no.

Can a 6D be "Canonized" (i.e. crippled enough) to not threaten the 5DIII and complete with the D600?   I don't know and i'm afraid to know!

I can't wait to find out

I would look forward to a touch screen if it also has a well done user interface:

menu navigation,
custom settings - setting, selecting
direct print
etc

with a physical lock/unlock toggle button.

The "old" sensor is fine if no one else worked on sensor technology in the past 3+ years.
Seeing as they have,  I would like my current vendor of choice to also strive to improve their offerings.

I like my 7D, and it is a way better camera than I am a photographer. Yes, it gets noisy by ISO 1600 and especially beyond that, but it is still an excellent camera.

I will get the 5D3 if it ever becomes available before I die. But that doesn't make the 7D a bad camera, especially given that it's 2.5 years old. In that context, it's excellent.

The 7D is not a bad camera.  I  don't like the nature of the images it takes.

My 40D was "ok" but first started a trend that carried into my 50D and then the 7D. 

The main difference across these generations was more pixels, same space.

To me, pixel size impacts the quality of the image generated.
