Looks soft, maybe your lens.  First shots look fine to me

The Canon version is so sharp and perfect I really doubt this can better it.  Even if it is Zeiss.  Might be alright for Nikon folk though!

EOS Bodies / Huge flaw found in Nikon D800 and Canon 5D Mark III
« on: March 15, 2012, 03:41:10 AM »
There's a huge flaw found in both Canon and Nikon's latest cameras that could affect your pictures.  After some testing it seems both cameras suffer from a low SPD rate (Shots Per Day).  Apparently it only seems to affect the SPD rate in the first few months then as the camera gets use to being used the SPD increases.

The cause at this moment is the result of people spending too much time pixel peeping and comparing systems.

Get out and take some pictures :)

Lenses / Re: Rumored 10 new lenses, 5 of which (CR) mentioned...

135/2 is old, but is there anything wrong with it?

Exactly, Canon aren't going to replace a lens that can't be improved because its so great.  The only thing would be f1.8 or IS.  It's fairly lightweight and I just can't see them doing it.

Lenses / Re: cannon 35mm 1.4L now or wait for 35 f/1.4L II?
« on: March 07, 2012, 06:59:40 PM »
I went for the version 1 in the end as I was in the same dilemma.  I really don't regret it as mine is sharp at f1.4.  The only thing that could be improved is the CA at f1.4 and f1.6.

Regarding the weather sealing, If I'm right no lens shorter than 200mm has weather sealing.

Is not possible to hack DPP or Camera Raw into thinking its opening a different camera model or are the output formats so different from each model?

EOS Bodies / What exactly is a stop improvement in ISO?
« on: March 03, 2012, 09:30:25 AM »
OK, so people say the 5D3 has a 1 stop improvement in RAW over the Mark II.  However, what exactly is a stop.

For example, ISO3200 is double that of ISO1600, so that's a stop.
But ISO 800 is double of 400 so that's also a stop.

One is 400 difference, one is 1600 difference in a stop, so which stop are we talking here?

EOS Bodies / 5D Mark III, ok cool, but when is it out?

There seems to be no info on when the 5D Mark III is shipping!!

Any info?

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mark III Sample Images
« on: March 02, 2012, 02:06:59 AM »
I'm surprised Canon actually has so many samples.  Why didn't they do this with the 1DX  in fact, the 1DX still has less samples out there.

I'd love it if the shots from the guy who was spotted with the 5D Mark III last month appeared in there!  ;)

Do you still believe the specs to be on track?

You've been pretty spot on with the rumors lately!  1DX, 24-70mm and hopefully this.

lets name the site canonfacts.com ;)

I hope the new server will manage it :)

What's the spec of the old one and the new one?

I'm sure I'm not the only one here, but I will not pay any more than inflation if the AF system is only at 7D level.  It'd better be 1DX quality or nearabouts.

A very good point.  CR has got to think of it from a business point of view, I bet those ads are getting more clicks than ever.  After all, its all downhill after the announcement.

It's gone remarkably quiet on the CR front huh.  I hope the specs are right and there is something Tuesday but I can't help feel something is off.

I'm guessing its CR3 because its the same source as the 1DX.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Help with my "itch" for a FF

In my experience, the best thing you can do to sort your itch is to scratch it.  Go FF!
