I like your first shot. I visit that spot often in the summer and have talked to this artist many times. He's very interesting.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Transition from Nikon to Canon
« on: February 22, 2013, 08:33:31 AM »
Got to agree that there is no reason to switch systems. Although I prefer the look of Canon files, that's just an opinion and it's personal with no relevance to anyone else. Nikon makes excellent cameras and any of the newest ones will be magnificent. If you want to spend some money on gear, get a camera that matches up with your lenses. This Nikon vs Canon thing is just foolish. If you're not getting good pictures with the camera brand you have, the problem is not the camera.

I had the 50/1.8 and I rather have the 40/2.8 due to the optical quality.

Same here, the 'lil 40 is much better in every way.

EF 400 f/5.6 is the lens I'm most satisfied with.

Its been "top of the crops" for two years now, so until Nikon brings a D400 to the table, they sure don't need to rush out a 7D II.

EOS Bodies / Re: Do Canon still develop Full Frame Cameras?
« on: June 30, 2011, 07:08:24 AM »
I honestly think that Canon, like Apple, has began to / or already abandon the Pro market.

And all those new long lens (3,4,5 and 6oomm) announced aren't for Pros ? How about the 200-400 in developpement ? The 8-15 fisheye ?

Lets be honest the question we need to ask is... where is the professional sector going? The professional sector has been struggling for years. With the event of everything turning digital it has made it even easier for people to get into the industry and be good at it. Also making it very hard for pros to make as much money. Look at other companies that are struggling in their professional line up:

Apple - Apple's success and saviour was its professional following, they have now pretty much deserted these customers with pro hardware and software that is taking 2-3+ years to replace/update infuriating customers (2-3 years is a long time in the computer world). Instead they are concentrating on their consumer products, macbook pros and imac outsell mac pros 1000:1 the market isnt as strong in this sector anymore so putting money into it isnt as worth it. Upgrading them every 6s months makes sense and costs alot less because of the volume sales.....

+1 Best post I've read in a long time. Your analogy with Apple is spot on  8)

I did a soccer match last summer using my 400 f/5.6, and it was very good, but I found it just a bit long.

I would suggest the 300 f/4 if you want to stick to a prime, but if you want more versatility, the 100-400 or better still, the new 70-300 L would be great in my opinion.

You can always crop a bit too later should you want closer shots.
