I know dozens of my CR friends have experience with this - so I'm going straight to the source for some good info!

I shot a soccer game because my kid was playing - ended up getting quite a few good shots of other kids...

What site would you recommend - where I could upload images and just let these other parents browse and download till their heart's content... No money involved, just posting images that they can access through a link I can send them?

Many thanks!

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Best carry set-up for 7D & 70-200 f/2.8L
« on: January 24, 2013, 03:41:02 AM »
A friend of mine owns a 7D - and he just bought his first "L" - the 70-200 f/2.8...

He asked me about strap/mounting options and that is not my area of expertise...

But I told him that I belong to an online Canon community that is awesomely helpful!

(hint: that's you guys...)

What are you using to carry this rig? Are you coming off the camera or using the tripod collar/foot?

Pics of your rig with detailed description as to specific products/connectors/ideas would be greatly appreciated!  :)

5D MK III Sample Images / Alina - At the Park in Simferopol
« on: August 28, 2012, 11:57:59 AM »
I met Alina in Simferopol when I visited Ukraine. She saw my camera and asked if I was any good at portraits. I said, "No, but I try real hard!" She said she wanted to send some new photos to her ailing grandmother in Russia. How do you say no to a pretty lady with a story like that? We walked to a nearby park and caught the last 30 minutes of sunlight. These were a few of her favorites - I hope grandma was happy!

5D MK III Sample Images / Yalta Boardwalk - 5DIII @ 5000 ISO

Coming from the days of film - I know, the Dark Ages - putting a roll of Tri-X in your camera at 400 ASA was high speed... Setting this camera to 5000 ISO and shooting these types of pictures hand-held just amazes me! The AWB on this camera is really something - the colors are exactly as I remember them...

This McDonald's knockoff made me chuckle...

5D MK III Sample Images / Ukraine and My 5D Mk III
« on: August 25, 2012, 01:34:34 PM »
Just got back from a few weeks in Ukraine. This sculpture of "Death" was in a park in Simferopol. I thought it was interesting that He carried a guitar; as opposed to the scythe I am more familiar with. I asked my translator when the guitar was played - before, during, or after the dirty deed? She wasn't sure, but I got up at dawn to go back and get this back-lit shot... I thought it looked more ethereal...

Lighting / 5D Mark III incompatible with Metz 45CL-4?
« on: June 16, 2012, 09:55:56 AM »
I have used Metz strobes and Canon bodies together for nearly 20 years. When I bought my first digital, 450D, I was told I couldn't use my 60CT-4 with it. I bought a 45CL-4, SCA 3102 Canon Module, and a SCA 3045 connecting cord that all worked perfectly with the Rebel. All E-TTL functions worked great in both Manual and Tv/Av modes (fill).

I finally treated myself to my first full-frame and decided to make sure the 5DIII and Metz played well together. They did not. The flash would fire; but it was like a full manual burst. The exposure verification light would not illuminate even though the test shots were probably 8 stops over. I noticed that the flash ready light on the 5DIII was blinking intermittently; like it was indicating an error. I tried the camera in various modes; Green Box, Tv, Av, and Manual - nothing worked. I called Metz USA and they said I needed an updated 3102 module with version 5 software. Bought one from Adorama, put it on the camera, everything was the same - malfunction... I should mention that the Rebel and the Metz still function perfectly together...

Anyone else experiencing something similar? I hope - I pray - it's not the body because returning it from here in Afghanistan would be a major PITA! Any suggestions? I was thinking about buying a Canon flash just to make sure the problem wasn't with the body circuitry...
