do you record uncompressed hdmi output video signal (which bring HUGE gb/hr video file) from the event/wedding??
how long do it take to encode it into DVD? i cant dare to imagine cuz it's already taking me too much time to encode it. and i only recorded it at high-compression 1080p 30fps from 5d3? I believe that's 25mbps.

With the Hyperdeck you can record full uncompressed but it is like a 1.5TB drive for just two hours of footage or something  .

They also have compressed modes (rates up to 220mbps).

~1.5tb for 2hrs??? so, What is the "real usage" of uncompressed HDMI?

Do you mean $300 is includes the Fluid head & tripod for video? if that's the case, i doubt you'll find 1 that's smooth for $300.

favorable mention for tripod&fluid head for video:

Satchler Ace (strictly Video only) ~$550..
or get 1 of the tripod mentioned earlier and get
video head: manfrotto 501hdv or 502hd ~$180-$200

why not the 24-70 2.8?
i can see the f2.8 from apc-h sensor is roughly equivalent to f4 in dof view. but.. why not 24-70 2.8?

It was his/her first post, and the other poster's comment about learning how to use commas and then yours didn't make for a warm welcome.

Maybe you're overreacted. Thought i saw the use comma, but his post is clearly is about comparing cameras.

I see no real need for the continued existence of the current 800/5.6.

The 800 with the 2x TC gets you to 1600mm, can you stack TCs on the 600?  I don't own a 600, 800, or a TC, so please enlighten.  I think stacked TCs is not a desired option.

the 800 f5.6 + 2x TC give you F11 (2 stop higher).. at F11, you'll lose AF, which i dont think you want to with any tele. Unless you're shooting the moon

if you want the 70-200.. get the Version II.. it's the best and well worth the extra.

and to make it sound better: if version 1 is $1000 n version 2 is $2000.. i'll still go with Ver II

are you exceeding the 5d2? what dont you like about 5d2? do you think the IQ from 1vhs (film) is better than 5d2?.. if you hate the body format of 5d2 and like 1d series. Why dont you buy a 1ds3 or 1dx or etc?
thinking shooting wedding with film, manual focus, developing & PP??. you're very brave.

I currently shoot portraiture 90% of the time and i constantly use the 50mm f1.4 and the 85mm f1.8 prime lenses only for my shoots..granted they're not the L version but those are way too pricey. I'm shooting on the 5Dmk3.

5.6 is what i usually shoot at, sometmes f4 but never lower)

If you're shooting with F5.6 most the time and rarely lower (larger) than F4.0.. Why did you choose the prime vs zoom? What was the factor? and if you're shoot portrait 90% at F5.6 - 4.0, a prime lense wont show much improvement over the zoom (unless pixelpiping)

TBH: when i read your post: 5dm3+portrait+L is too expensive+ portrait @ F5.6... I laughed & wondered: Did you think spending $3000+ on the 5d3 will make your photo to be much improved? what enforced ur stance on never "lower" than F4.0?
Try to loose it out a-little bit... Shoot at f1.4, f2.0 etc.. experience it, have fun with them.. the L lense are especially designed to shoot at those aperture... the 50 1.4 & 85 1.8 isnt a slouch.. they do performe amicably well

When use only 1 body: 1dX... only because body balance and (slightly) ISO
2 bodies: maybe 5d3 cuz the weight. BUT I would love 2 1dx n the weight isnt there.

ouch.. 6 out of 6 missed focus?? even my old historic 30D wouldn't do it.
using my 5d3 and the focus is nail on everytime (95%+).. my 1d2 is also very reliable at AF. hitting focus around 85%

I have the 24-70 and i think that lense is horrible at AF, most of my missed AF is from that lense, thus i rarely use it

unless you're shooting with 2 camera side by side, I would sell the 5d3 & money from 1d4 to buy 1dx. (the 60d as backup)
