EOS Bodies / Re: Canadian 5D MIII action?
« on: March 21, 2012, 02:16:04 PM »
I just called Camera Canada, they said they don't have the 5d3 in-store yet, but said they are shipping tomorrow.  Canon Canada is cutting that close with delivery.  They must ship UPS or FedEx, as Canada post would f*ck that up.  I've been waiting two years, so the last few days are the worst —I want it for this weekend.

Post here if you've had any luck in Canada!

Well, that can go and apply to many things, as far as a 5d3, mine is to ship tomorrow, or so I was told.

ef 20mm f2.0L, or lower the price of the tilt 17mm by $900.

Lenses / Re: ef 35L on crop - experiences?

The 35L is great on a crop, and it performs very well wide open.  Its AF is fast and accurate, rarely misses.  I used mine on a 50D for a few years, but now I am waiting for my 5D3.  I also have the 50L; the 35L yields a higher keeper rate when both are used wide open.

Problem with the 35L on a crop and using it as a normal lens is you retain the wide angle perspective of the 35mm.

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D mk III: ISO 25600...Stunning!!!!!

These are some of the cleanest ISO 25000 shots I've ever seen from any camera. I first shot at ISO 25000 back in 1990, pushing T-Max p3200. Trust me; they looked nowhere near this good.

Tough crowd. Some people have no idea how far we've come.
I agree. Much better than my 50D's 12800 or even 6400.

I shot my 50D tonight at 3200, ouch.  Nevermind 6.4 or 12.8.

How can Canon keep the camera's name a secret till the day they announce it.  They had lots of cameras made, many boxes made, many manuals written, proof-read, and printed.  How can they keep all that a secret?  Hundreds of non Canon employees were involved.

What did we do before the d800 and 5d3? What did we do before the d700 and 5d2?

Maybe you took #3 too, but mostly it's the lighting giving it away.

Good thread.

You took photos 1, 4, and 6

everyone pouring over image files to examine them at sub-atomic levels to see if the molecular structure of the D800 is cleaner.

I'm stoked to finally have FF after leaving my EOS 5 film camera.  A 50mm lens will have the FOV and perspective of 50mm again.

How to press the shutter release (sheesh!)

Yes, and 99% of the population still does it wrong.  Ever notice when people take a photo and say on the count of "three", it takes more like 6?

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mk III vs D800/E, is the 5D3 better at anything?

This fourm is like a bunch of 10 year old boys arguing over if Batman can kick Superman's ass.
