Err, I think canon is losing it. Why not just re-vamp the 24-105L Mk.2?

This lens will be DOA.

This.  Couldn't agree more.  Someone is making absurd lens decisions at Canon.  (24mm IS and 28mm IS?!?)

I played around with the HDR mode myself, and concluded that many of the images were appearing "overprocessed", even on the natural setting.  Also, the camera tries it's hardest to auto-align images, but if any object has physically moved in the frame (eg. a taxi) there's going to be very noticable artifacts.

Having no knowledge of Magic Lantern, what can I except this to offer me for someone who doesn't shoot video?

The Magic Lantern team has been primarily dedicated to video, but this does prove there are programming hooks that other developers could latch code too.  Perhaps an internal intervelometer?  (I could even see Magic Lantern implimenting this for time lapse videos.)

Why did the CHDK never jump ship from Powershots to EOS?

I've been using STK's for my 7D and now my 5D Mark III.  No complaints whatsoever.  They charge in the Canon chargers, and the camera battery capacity indicator appears accurate.

Craigslist batteries are not worth the risk, IMO.

will never happen. it´s a tax thing.

My 5D Mark III records up to 29 min 59 seconds.  EU tax is incurred for any device recording over 30 minutes.  The 7D's recording time is limited by 4GB file sizes, which the 5DmkIII circumvents by seamlessly creating separate 4GB movies without dropping frames.  It's a software thing.  Easily correctable.

I'm with Dromemc.  I've had mixed experiences with their software.  This recent test of mixing 90 minutes of video and audio from 3 cameras in 25 seconds doesn't really do much for me.  If they were three 90-minute, un-cut clips, then PluralEyes would only need three syncing operations.  Can we get more info on the complexity of these demo videos?

My $0.02?  Keep the kit.  It's my most used lens for journalistic/documentary assignments.  F/4 is a good aperture for focusing, and the new ISO capabilities of the mkIII should allow pretty good images indoors as well. 

As for the prime, I'd suggest the 50 1.4.  The 85mm is a bit long which will require you stabilization to avoid jello.  If you do go 85, invest in a Manfrotto 561BHDV-1 for sure.

I feel the tests DxO runs is heavily biased towards Nikon anyways.  It's hard to believe not a single Canon camera is in the top 10, and the 7D isn't even in the top 50.

Those sensor tests are pretty objective.  I don't see any reason for DxO to misrepresent their findings.

I've found the best value in bags has been the Burton Snowboards series of camera bags.  They offer removable cores, so you can use it for camera gear or anything else.

The big upgrade in this 5D iteration is the new auto-focus abilities.  But with video, you take that out of the equation.  If I was satisfied with my current lens and audio set up, I might spring for the mkIII.  But for now, as a current 7D shooter, a 5DmkII plus a 70-200 2.8 IS are sounding pretty attractive right now.
