Lenses / Re: Speedboster and AF speed

One thing that they mentioned about the NEX and most of the other mirror-less cameras is that they have contrast based focus only and the lenses for the DSLR are created for cameras using phase detection. But since I have a NEX6 with Hybrid AF why isn't it seems to be a little bit faster compared to a mirror-less camera with only contrast detection AF. From what I read so far it doesn't seems to be any bigger performance gains there, is this a "hardware" limitation or is it a software limitation?

Can the Speed Booster be updated in the future to improve the AF speed?
Or can a future Speed Boster for EF to EOS-M be a better solution?

I actually hoped (thought) that the EOS-M would be faster and better than a NEX using my current EF lenses, but I don't know right now. I like the NEX6 but I still hope the AF speed can be similar as a consumer level DSLR with my EF lenses in the future.

I don't want to be forced to buy alot of new EOS-M/NEX leses in the future, maybe a few but it would be nice to be able to continue to use the EF lenses as well.

Many questions, hope you guys can help me to answer some of them.

Yes I know, maybe wrong forum or thread?

I have a Sony NEX6 as a second camera when I don't bring my 5D III with me, but I still want to be able to use my EF lenses sometimes. I have a EF 24-105 L, a EF 70-200 L II and a small nifty fifty.

Maybe I chose the wrong path here but since the EOS-M wasn't so good it just resulted in this.

Planning to get a Metabones Speedboster so I can use my EF lenses on the Sony NEX6 sometimes, mostly for stills but how does the AF speed compares to the EOS-M with their M-EF adapter?

Or should I wait for the EOS-M II and replace my NEX6?

Don't you mean Canon 24-105mm F/4 IS USM in your signature?
Thought at first you had found a Mark II of that lens, but then it would say 24-105mm F/4 II IS USM

My EF 70-200 f2.8L IS II USM is my favourite lens,
but I use my EF 24-105 f4L most of the time.

Would like the 24-70 f2.8L II USM, but I have to save a little bit and the price needs to go down before I get that instead.

which kenko 1.4x are you getting? I was thinking of ordering the Pro 300 1.4X DGX as I read somewhere it will focus at f/8 on the 5dm3

I think that only worked on a 1Dx, not on a 5D Mark III. Correct me if I'm wrong.

From what I heard and showing on this site it seems like the SD slot isn't so fast at all. So there isn't so big difference on what SD card you are using. But it seems to be best to just save jpg on the SD card and RAW on the CF card.

Correct me if I'm wrong here...

And if you want speed, don't use SD at all.

I'm not sure but I'm thinking of order an EOS-M maybe with and FE adapter, maybe for Christmas. But I will first see what the review has to say about it.

Still haven't really decided if I should save for a new L-lens or a second camera.

I'm also going on two trips soon (Maybe London and South Korea) and planning to just take the 5D Mark III, 24-105 and my nifty fifty (50mm 1.8 II). Maybe the flash also (430EX II) and a spare camera battery. Leaving my 70-200 2.8 IS II at home and the BG-E11 as well to make the camera gear as light as possible. Of course some CF and SD cards as well and the chargers for the camera and for the AA batteries. But the chargers and spare AA batteries will be placed in another bag, not the camera bag. The camera bag is a ACME Made Union Photo Messenger, like it alot. Small and doesn't look like a camerabag.

Thinking about replace the 50mm 1.8 II with something else but don't know what really. Maybe the canon 50mm 1.4 or the Sigma 50mm 1.4. Would really like the 50mm 1.2 but that is too expensive for me right now.
