EOS Bodies / Re: Canon DSLR Body Rumors for 2013
« on: January 01, 2013, 01:27:26 PM »
The 1Dsx will do for me provided Canon manage to leapfrog Nikons current world beating performance with the 800E. If they can achieve that, then I will be in heaven, if not, then its goodbye Canon. I'm not hanging about if they continue to produce cameras with noise and banding issues but with excessive ISO figures.

Having said that, my present 5DII is OK for the moment, so I would rather they spent more time getting it right than a rushed "knee jerk reaction".

Pentaflex SLR
Nikon FE
Canon Eos-3
Canon 30D
Canon 5DII

My next? Hopefully Canons 1Ds replacement if its as good as they have promised. They have a little catching up to do since the Nikon 800E, but I remain positive.

Canon General / Re: Is canon going to come back?
« on: December 02, 2012, 09:56:45 AM »
I'm not sure why everyones getting so heated about this. Nikon has a lead on Canon at the moment and its likely to remain that way unless Canon spend more cash on R & D.

Unlike the negative comment about Nikon service, I used Nikons for years and they were always OK with me.

I believe Canon have to come back or suffer financially. It will not be quick, maybe a couple of years, but I have high hopes for the 1Ds replacement when it eventually arrives. We need a high MP camera with waaay less noise than Canon can offer right now but if Nikon can do it, then so can Canon.

We should thank our lucky stars that we have these two big players fighting for our custom.

If the equipment made one iota of a difference then we would all be producing masterpieces daily. Clearly we are not, as the real artists show us constantly.

So I don't believe the amazing equipment we have these days makes any difference. The vision (or lack of it) is in us, not the kit we use.

Until the real announcement and from there something in between 1-3 years until it starts shipping. You will eventually hold it in your hands in about 5 years.

Thats fine, I can live with that timescale, by which time we all be spending £9k on a camera without even blinking.

Has Canon really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like about the new sensors yet?

my head exploded trying to comprehend this question.

If you eventually understood, can you explain it to me please, cos I cannot grasp it.

EOS Bodies / Re: Describe the 6D in one word...

One word? Unremarkable.

Definitely not about to shake the world. Canon need to realise that Nikon have returned from their years in the wilderness and are producing cameras with real advances. Sleepy valley bodies using existing tech will no longer cut the mustard.

I hope Canon have in fact woken up, it may just be that the lead time on these products is long, predating Nikons re-emergence. So are Canon scheming behind the schenes?

Lenses / Re: Zoom-walking, Walk-zooming
« on: September 15, 2012, 09:29:11 AM »
So what happen when there is no room/distance in front or back of you?  :-\  You can easily miss a shot by moving back/forw and re-compose the shot.

With the latest gear, I think zoom is a better choice. Take a look at latest lenses from Canon, 24-70 mkr II & 70-200 f2.8 IS II. I have both. It worths every pennies.

It all depends on the composition. There is no right or wrong, its what works best for a particular situation.

Yes, of course there will be times when there is no chance to walk forward or back, but just as often a zoom lens will also not be an ideal answer either.

As long as they realise this needs to beat, not just match, the Nikon D800E, then its on my wish list. Hopefully this will be the updated 1Ds I've been waiting for, with world class DR, mind blowing resolution, and none of the irritating banding issues or pattern noise problems besetting all the existing bodies.

Interesting how long its taken Canon to respond to Nikons D800E, when they must have known about it a long time before the average joe did, gagging orders or no gagging orders.

No mention of the UK?

Second bullet point on the list. Any one care to explain to me what a fast zebra is? Apart from the speedy 4 legged variety I mean.

If it's as sharp as the 70-200 II then absolutely.  The idea of not being able to carry around a bunch of primes is too appealing to me.

+1....on pre-order

+2..... ditto

What do you mean by "soft box"? I'm in the market for the mk2, but am unhappy at suggestions that if I'm an early adopter I somehow get a less than perfect deal.

My local camera shop expects to see the 24-70 mk2 any day, but in kits with bodies that they will then split.
