Lenses / 24-105L vs 24-70 Tamron VC
« on: October 29, 2012, 03:44:26 PM »
I'm looking for a GP zoom that will fit into my existing prime kit. I will use it for location studio work, travel, and In combo with a Fast prime or two.

I like the 24-105L and I could add my 50L to make my GP kit. The only issue is that for 900$ I'll be getting an F/4 lens, which makes it limited in my live event coverage.

I also like the New tamron 24-70 2.8 VC because of the speed/price. The only issue is it's a tad bit shorter and Makes it awkward to pack my 50L as it covers that focal length already. I could pack a 135L as the combo.

Or I could just continue to use my prime set and I'm just getting buyer's itch. I've been getting around ok but with non-work stuff, a Zoom would be nice. :o

What should I purchase?

Lighting / Sell Older 580 EXII's for 600 EX-RT's?
« on: October 25, 2012, 11:23:24 AM »
I'm considering switching out my older 580 EX II's with a set of new 600 EX-RT's. I was also considering Radio Poppers to get my 580's wireless TTL. I've seen the 600EX's for as low as 550$ on Evilbay.

Is they're a better or cheaper way to get TTL off-camera flash? I like the idea of not having to mess around with triggers but If its cheaper, Why not?

Reviews / My Mini-Review of the 85mm 1.2L II.
« on: October 09, 2012, 08:07:49 PM »
Just my Little mini-review of this sweet lens. Feel free to critique it if you like, I don't do many reviews.

I just did a shutter count on my 1.5 Year old 7D. Its been through quite a bit in a year and a half.

Its almost half-way through its life.  :(

Lenses / Poll: 35mm Vs 50mm Primes
« on: September 14, 2012, 04:11:00 PM »
This focal length generally will determine the first set of primes someone will buy.

35mm - 85mm - 135mm

24mm - 50mm - 135mm

What is you preferred standard lens choice?

Third Party Manufacturers / Kodak 620X ISO performance vs now?
« on: September 13, 2012, 03:51:53 PM »
I read this review, and believe that the manufacturers can deliver much better IQ than we're lead to believe.

Stunning for year 2000 tech.

Software & Accessories / Convert your Photos to ASCII art!

This is cool, and converted one my more popular landscapes into ASCII Art. 8)

The best viewing is full screen and a step back from your monitor.

Lighting / Direct Flash - How to make it useful?
« on: September 10, 2012, 03:43:43 PM »
I can never get good direct flash, how do you get decent images like the one below.

I like off-camera and very competent in that, but direct flash I never could quite grasp it.

EOS Bodies / I love Primes.

 I love Primes. Do you?

The more I use them, The more I'm glad I used my budget on them. ;D

This is the tablet I've been waiting for. A Tablet that can actually do work and run serious app's for my photo needs with a USB PORT!!!

This is good stuff, A full OS in a tablet. 8) The possibility's are endless with that USB port. Tethering shooting, Storage, CD Drive, Printers, and so much more.

Are any of you interested in this tablet? Because if the giant microsoft can pull it off, The Ipad will have some serious competition.

I was just approved for a CPS 5D3 and 85L II Loan on 9-28-12.  8)

Is there anything specific I should look at on the 5D3 thats not on my 5Dc? I'm talking little details.
(besides the obvious AF, IQ and build quality improvements.)

I've been looking at the 85L as well, so i'll have to pick the 5d3 or 85L by the end of the two weeks demo period.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Camera Body Gallery? Missing?
« on: June 25, 2012, 01:49:34 PM »
There is a Lens gallery section, but no Camera body section? Why Not? I'd be nice to see bodies performing at different setting to see differences.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / 5D3 or 200mm f/2?
« on: June 22, 2012, 09:38:09 AM »
I've been considering both of these options for a couple months now. I've already got the cash for either but been waiting a bit on both.

5D3 would be nice upgrade from my classic. Its ready to die soon and don't really want to fix it when it does.

I've always liked the stunning shots from the 200mm f/2. Heavy, impractical but amazing. Specialist item.

I'd Like to hear opinions over both.
