I just scored a Like new Canon 24-70 2.8 L on Craiglist for $800!  June 2009 build date.  With pricing where it is at in most places for this right now I had to share.  Got to try it out and it seems to work great and sharp.  Not a scratch or wear mark to be seen, both end caps, and soft case.  Guy selling was leaving his job to move to another locations with GF and was selling a bunch of stuff to bridge him over untill finding new work.  Listed it at 10 PM last night and I had a verbal agreemnt to buy it based on inspection this AM by 11.

OK,  witch is it!   

Never bought a used lens before, and honestly, don't see myself doing so. I got a friend at Canon who gets me a nice discount on cameras and lenses... only downside is that I gotta pay cash!

On the other hand, I did once buy a used 17-40 for $400 and sold it for $600

I'm just to skeptical when it comes to buying used glass.

I agree on looking at CL first as an option to sell but sometimes EB is a better option.  I say this since you want to do a CL sale face to face and with cash and in some geographic areas your potential buyer pool for an item like this might be so small it is hard to sell or sell at the price it is worth.  To open up your market Ebay can be good even with the fees

Price is treending up but it seems not many have any stock. 

Doesanyone know if Canon plans to continue to make and sell the I version after the II version is actually out like it seems they do with the 70-200 2.8?

I really like what my Canon 9000F flatbed scanner can do with film and old slides.  There may be better film only scanner but thisis at your price point and will give you optiosn for things more than film.

Just used my Canon S3 in 2007 to catch these because it is all I had with.  Was pretty happy with how they turned our all things considered.

I would not put a name or ID what is inside on the outside.  I have nothing ID'ing content on the outside of either of mine.  One thing I always have though is name and contact info on the inside.  On the rare chance that it is misplaced or whatever and someone honest gets their hands on it I want them to be able to track me down.  Probably stating the obvious on keeping ID on the inside but just in case.....

Have had a few of these done but by no means as many as I am sure some people here have. My best luck has been with Mpix. Take it for what it is worth. There services have always been better than most

Just out of curiosity, where they from two different third party sellers on Amazon.  If it is not sold by Amazon but by a Third Party Amazon partner that would explain the difference.  For the most part I only buy from Amazon direct.  Look at you sales info and see if it says SOLD BY XXXX.   I had this happen with some blackberry chargers.  Bought the first set and they were OEM as detailed in the order.  Bought additional ones from the same link knowing both times that they were third party partners but ended up getting generic ones from the second seller.  Sent an email detailing my dislike since I knew I wanted OEM and the second seller sent me the ones that I wanted, and bought, along with a prepaid shipping label to send the first ones back.  Each order was for 5 or 6 so it was worth it.
