On photokina I had the chance to get the "Sports" into my hands, this is one heavy beast!
The "Contemporary" is a bit smaller and lighter, maybe you can spot the difference:

I asked at the photokina 2014 what it is about Panasonic and Eneloop and a nice guy at the Panasonic booth told me that not long ago Panasonic took over the battery business from Sanyo. I do not know a specific date when this had happened but currently I see "Sanyo Eneloop" and also the new "Panasonic Eneloop" packages at retailers as well as on amazon.

By the way: my 7 years old Sanyo Eneloops are loosing power, too
and I will replace them with the new black Panasonic 2550mAh Pro Eneloops for my 430EX and 580EXII.
I am looking especially for a package with a 'high speed' loading unit that reloads them within two hours.

Lenses / Re: Lens Squeak - 24-70 2.8 USM II - Is this Normal?

I would refrain from any greasing, oil, WD40 or other lubricants  ::)

My 24-105 never did this, my 70-300 is a non-L and has no weather sealing.
Sorry that I have no lens to compare :-(
but I would hope to get an answer from one of those lens rental guys, as they have a large amount of such lenses and maybe could underpin or disagree to Canon's opinion "that this is normal"...

And I totally agree: next time you should really tell them that you shoot video and the squeak is a NO-GO.
Good luck!!

ykn123 says it right, I second that!

When I do indoor shootings of Judo, Aikido, Tai Chi or Dancing I often use my 7D with the EF 85 f/1.8.
I shoot RAW and do the white balance in Lightroom, works great with a grey card, worked also with a grey element near the athletes  :D

The nifty fifty f/1.4 does it, too - just sometimes the AF USM isn't fast enough :(

The 24-105 f/4 works, but is not the best recommendation for indoor sports

Regarding high ISO... the 7D can go up to 6400 and Lightroom 5 can help to smooth even these high settings,
if a 1DX does not fit into the budget - have you thought about getting a used 7D?

::) maybe I missed it (except Münster and the Alps) but did anyone mention Germany?

Are you planning for Germany, too?

Any special interests except usual tourist's targets?

And one more question: what time do you plan to travel? Summer 2013??

could somebody tell the differences to or a comparison with the EF 8-15mm f/4L fisheye?

I got a sample lens of that thing on my 7D at photokina and it's amazingly wide on APS-C:

for those interested in SONY
i caught a snapshot of the RX1 @ the photokina:

...maybe this camera is a kind of inspiration for an EOS M-6 with a FF sensor an EF mount  ::)

Lenses / Re: Update for the EF 24-105 f/4 L ?
« on: September 20, 2012, 04:13:33 PM »
I have a copy from 2009 (taken from a 5D2Kit) that I selected at my local Frankfurt/M. dealer and I am quite happy with it on the 40D and 7D and I also think that Canon will update other lenses but not his one.

Of course a new design inherited from 70-200 2.8 L Mk II and the latest Mk II of the 24-70 would be nice...
let's hope they announce one next year so we probably see (and talk about) prototypes in 2014/15/16...

How long is the 100-400L on duty? And still no update... (well, let's ignore the 10k$ 200-400 1.4x converter monster).

Anyway this workhorse will continue as the walkaround lens for 5D/6D and 1D-families for quite some time.

In case someone wonders what to shoot with the 24-105L, you may have look here:

my 24-105L does not creep at all, maybe you can have the Canon service fix that on warranty?
