I bought that lens for when I went skiing some weeks ago just to save some space and I was absolutely not disappointed. Great sharpness, easy to use and dirt cheap. I returned it afterwards though because I got a Tamron 24-70 2.8 which magically covers the focal length of 40mm and I saw no real reason for keeping it besides the size, which I do not need that often, because I carry around my stuffed camera pack anyway.I have both, used to use the 24 & 28 mm focal lengths on APS quite often, so when I upgraded to the 6D, the 40mm magically sits between the two
I think you're thinking of the 270EX... the 90 is a little smaller, cost me ~$100, while it doesn't have a diffuser or tilt, it's light, and i find the wireless E-TTL a big advantage when using with my 560/600EX flashesGet a SunPak RD2000 Flash for walk around fill flash and a bunch of eneloops.I'd recommend the Canon 90EX (from the EOS M) over the Sunpak, a little bit more cash, but down the track you can use it as an optical off-camera flash trigger for the EX series - works brilliantly on my 6D for that purpose
The 90EX is larger, twice the price and doesn't pivot which is critical to me. I also have the StoFen diffuser on it all the time. I have some very detailed reviews up on Adorama, B&H, etc. You can get a small RD2000 with the diffuser for less than $100.

Hmmm...not sure what it could set to cause that? What lens was mounted? (I ask, becasuse I just read another post about a user needing to send a Tamron lens back to the the manufacturer for a firmware update, as it was draining the battery even with the camera turned off...Had this same issue personally with a 6D/tamron 24-70 - new lens, no problems
Else, perhaps try resetting the camera to the default settings (Setup menu 4 -> clear all camera settings) and see if that eliminates the drain.

The elevation is the least accurate aspect of GPS in general and I think the manual does mention it.That's a good point, I didn't check the exact coords - might try that now, no the waves were at the tallest about 30-40cm - calm Port Philip Bay weather
Sea level is not an absolute concept either... are you sure they weren't 17m waves?
Personally I love what Canon brings to the market but their prices for new gear of late has been outrageous. I haven't been stung - I bought a 5dMK2 just as the 5D3 came out so actually I got a good deal. I wouldnt spend that much on a body - much rather have last year's body and a top lens.
My biggest concern is for people who bought the 5D3 thinking it was the replacement for the 5D2, so they bought it and then Canon announce the 6D. I thought that was borderline misleading the customer, particularly as the 5D3 was significantly more expensive but carried the 5D lineage.
Also the 6D has built in wifi and GPS - that's got to be a kick in the balls for some 5D3 owners.
Make no mistake - Canon is charging its customers for the lost revenue caused by the 2011 tsunami.
I don't like it and I don't love Canon like I might but the next best option is Nikon and their lens range is crap in comparrison to Canon's.
For me, it's all about the ability to quickly share photos with friend and family either via email or Facebook. My current workflow includes a dreadfully slow upload process on my Mac. I like the idea of previewing my photos on my IPhone or IPad and emailing a scaled down version to a friend or family members email.that, and the "how are you doing that?!" Reaction that goes along with it

Funny u got it from teds cause their the ones who told me they don't expect it til march. Tried 2 jb hifi just yesterday both said they got no idea when it would be in. I think I'm just stuck wit dodgy stores near me haha. Thanks for the feedback guys. At least I now know they do exist so I will just keep asking...unfortunately you must have got on to a sales rep who's got no clue
