EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 7D Mark II Spec List [CR2]
« on: February 19, 2013, 04:48:47 PM »
With such a camera, I think 24mp is overkill. The 18 was fine, i like the speed specs of it but the only real thing that would attract me is improved ISO performance. 10fps would be beautiful for me, but id much rather have the pro body of a 1d III or 1d iv.
the 1.6x crop factor interests me as well as i miss that extra reach i had after my 60D was exchanged for a 5D III, but i could never hold the 60d without feeling as if its just electronic plastic on my hands.

I thought I was the only one! Even just seeing numbers that link up to making a lens model.  A number i needed for school.. the first 4 digits were "2470" and well there you go! My favorite lens

For $4,000 center to edge sharpness and optical quality should be = 1 and no < 0.9

For that money I' rather buy a Leica lens.
+1 on that.

If this was f/1.2 (or even f/1.0) it would be closer to being worth that amount of money.

But just seeing the comparisons in the video, the 55 f/1.4 is incredibly amazing.

Why you not choose Canon Lens - EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens . best budget lens online.
get more specification or buy online from Canon official Store Online -
I wouldn't go for a zoom like that when it's better to learn from the primes forcing you to think. And why the 17-85 and an only lens when the 15-85 would be a completely superior option for just a little more.

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D III or 1D IV for sports!

5DMK3 since you don't have any problem regarding the lens focal length but is having problem with ISO.  5D3 is better in ISO performance than 1DSMK3 by at least one or two stops.  1D4 is much worse than 1DSMK3 in ISO performance.
Don't know what camera you're looking at, but the 1D IV is superior to the 1Ds III in ISO performance.

I'd honestly go for the 1D IV.  Considering that you're used to a 1D style body too.

But for sports- 10 fps? great ISO performance? 1.3x crop factor? superior build? Yes x1000000.

I'd go for a 1D IV over a 5D III in your purpose.
Shoot me if you will, but I sometimes feel as if I should trade my 5D III for a 1D IV, but I tend to work with landscapes more so I wouldn't.

It would be good to have that old flagship combo of a 1D IV and 1Ds III.

My suggestion:
-85mm f/1.8 (around $370)
-40mm f/2.8 (around $160)
-24mm f/2.8 (around $393) OR if you could stretch your budget a little more, the 20 f/2.8.

Getting them second hand could have a little cash too.

And if your sole purpose is photography (you're not planning to use video), I'd sell your t3i and buy a 5D C.

5D3 sales for ~$2500 have happened already and are bound to happen again. Just get one then.

pardon my stupid question, but is there a way for me to know when such sales are going on?
I don't monitor this forum daily - should I ? would it be posted here? Or perhaps there is an easier way?

Grey marketing, yes $2500.

But not buying it from great market- $3500+ from what I've seen.

Especially in Australia.  Where I worked, there was a Christmas special on the 5D 3 but even still it was 3799 AUD, and the cheapest in the shopping complex was a Kodak shop selling it for 3333 AUD.

However I bought mine grey marketed for $2590

I'd say go with the 24-105 if video is what you want.

And the second lens probably a nice prime.

Lenses / Re: Would a 14-28mm f/1.8 be possible?

f/2.8 perhaps more-so than f/1.8 (I don't see why you'd really need that on an ultra wide anyway).

But unless you're willing to sell either your body on the streets or black market organs, I'd steer away from the thought of this lens lol

But yes it is possible.. just very costly.

Depending on your lenses, the 5D C is a great option (+1 to the others who mentioned it)

but if you don't want to go that path, a I think a t4i would be good.

EOS Bodies / Re: Need seasoned advice - keep 5D Mark II or NO?

If you've already got the 5D II, don't bother going with the 6D (if you were choosing between the two, I'd recommend the 6D, but you already have the 5DII?).  I'd wait for the 5D III as it's a better camera all round and you'll definitely enjoy it!

And your 40 f/2.8 STM would be pretty good on a full frame body for what you mentioned.

I'd go for the 6D, but if you wanted a better built camera (that still has amazing image quality), go for the 5D II.  However, the 6D is a little improved in the low light performance.

If you don't really need the 7D, and you feel as if you want that extra cash, just go for the 60D.
When I only had the 60D, my main reason I'd like to upgrade to a 7D is because of that nice build.  But I don't really care now because of my 5d 3.
But really it depends on what you find more practical and comfortable.  If you're used to the 7D now, it might be weird holding the plastic 60D (I definitely find it strange holding mine now)

After multiple purchases from DigitalRev, I can honestly say you won't have worries with them.  They're a very great company.

Well his problem was resolved anyway as he did end up getting the 1Dx (well claimed to), so there really was no reason of keeping the thread up.  Oh and after being on a forum board for many years of my teenage life, moderators tend to dislike when there's a post that is directly aimed at them and is insulting to some degree.

But oh well what business is his should just stay his business.  There was no need to publicise it at all.
