EOS Bodies / Re: Red AF in AI-Servo fixed in 1D-X before 5D Mk III

You get what you pay for .... never fails.

Funny how the 5DMK3 owners couldnt be happier with the decision they made not long ago (5DMK3 instead of "overpiced 1DX) .... Now, all of a sudden, the monetarily ugly child in the family gets a little exra attention and the pretty daughters start whinning.  ::)

Happy with MY decision of a 1DX ... and throwing it back on all of those who blasted it for one reason or another.
So 5DMK3 is a cheap camera that does not have to be updated?

I dont know about the "Updated" part but, back when all of the new 5D3 owners felt like they got a great deal because there was only a 1-1.5 stop difference between the 5D3 and the 1DX .... and it was an unnecessary expense for frame rate only, the 5D3 owners thought they stole something from Canon.  ::)

I see a lot of 5D3's being sold soon if Canon says no to the "pretty daughters".

As much "raggin' on" as a lot of the 5DM3 owners did about the 1DX being too expensive, not any better, too heavy, blah, blah, blah .... I wouldn't be surprised if Canon holds it (firmware update) back and just saves it for the new higher megapixel body.   ;D

With Canon updating their technology so often, it's safe to say that it would be wise to rent these new bodies if one was a professional. That would be the only sensible way to stay on top of the competition, and not go broke trying to out-do the "Jones'" ...... when it comes to producing the cleanest/clearest photo.  ::)

Kinda $hitty of Canon to say the new 1DX is their "flagship" only to come out with the "real" flagship shortly afterward.  ???

This frustrats me....the 1dx is the flagship for spots action and events!  This will be the studio flagship, both types of shooting have different needs and thus the bodies will be spec'ed in a different way

You & Canon both need to decide on WHAT "A" flagship is.  ::) ....There can only be one per manufacturer ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flagship

I have one for my 300 2.8 which I use mostly on the vast open spaces of the soccer field sidelines.  The main utility for me is it keeps the lens considerably cooler.
Thats my thinking when it comes to my go-to landscape lens.

EOS Bodies / Re: 1DX Worth the Money?
« on: August 15, 2012, 03:58:39 PM »
It's not a question of it "being worth the money" which, btw, is a stupid question.

Only you can make having or buying a 1DX worth spending the $$$.  ::)

Your question is along the same line as somebody telling a great photographer that his "camera takes good pictures". Tha camera doesnt take pictures, the owner of that camera does.

I know the product isn't out there yet but, it's a shame how Canon holds back on what their loyal buyers want when they (Canon) knows what is wanted.

They claim one body is a flagship (1DX), holding out on what another body has (5DMK3) only to give their fan base what they originally asked for (more megapixels) shortly afterwards. You cant tell me they didn't plan on a higher MP body announcement after 1DX & MK3 sales peak.

I also know that Canon didn't force anyone to buy either one of those bodies ... but lets face it ... Canon plays games with those who keep them competitive in a world of serious competition.

If I were to stop at a Kool-aid stand & buy a hot, watered down glass of Kool-aid from a little kid, only to have them pull out a fresh/cold picture from under the stand afterwards .... that would piss me off!  >:(

What are the chances of gear from the Olympics being sold as new?

Seems like a lot of gear to just be "discounted" as "refurbished".

Who uses all of that gear afterwards?  ???

Warrantees are nice and all but, .... I'm just glad I have my 1DX now!  :o
