A patent showing a 28mm f/1.4 optical formula has appeared. The fast L 28mm prime is missing from the current lineup and is something I'd personally be interested in, as I prefer the focal length over 24mm and 35mm for a fast prime.

This would likely be an L lens.

Patent Publication No. 2016-31414 (Google Translated)

  • Published 2016.3.7
  • Filing date 2014.7.28
  • Example
  • Focal length 28.00
  • Fno 1.45
  • Image height 21.64
  • Overall length of the lens 125.07
  • BF 38.73

I would expect such a lens to share a lot of the same technologies and build quality of the EF 35mm f/1.4L II. It is noted on our forum that in the patent, 3 working examples are for 35mm, and only one is for 28mm.
