PhotographyBlog: Canon PowerShot SX740 HS Review

PhotographyBlog: Canon PowerShot SX740 HS Review

By Richard | August 16, 2018 | Canon Reviews

The PhotographyBlog has completed their review of the Canon PowerShot SX740 HS.

The review seems to be a mixed bag, as Canon has selectively removed some features and added others.

The Canon PowerShot SX740 HS falls firmly into the “modest upgrade” category of camera releases, principally adding just two new features to a design that hasn’t really changed very much during the last few years. 4K video recording is the new headline grabbing feature, and for some people this will be reason alone to consider paying the full RRP for the latest model – for everyone else, we’d advise opting for last year’s inevitably discounted SX730 model instead, which only suffers in comparison by offering slower burst shooting rates – otherwise, it’s essentially the same camera.

With three tiers of photography related memberships (Silver, Gold and Platinum), Canon CPS provides a high level of support for professionals.  CPS is one of the core strengths of the Canon ecosystem, yet is often understated.

Check out the various CPS levels of membership as well as further information on CPS here.

Canon’s Official Full Frame Mirrorless Announcement Will Come After Photokina [CR2]

Canon’s Official Full Frame Mirrorless Announcement Will Come After Photokina [CR2]

By Canon Rumors | August 15, 2018 | Canon DSLR Rumors

We’re told that most of the mirrorless hype will belong to Nikon ahead of Photokina next month. A solid source is saying that no official announcement in regards to a full frame mirrorless camera from Canon will happen before Photokina next month.

While we couldn’t confirm an announcement date, we’re told that October 2018 continues to get mentioned as a possible month in which Canon will address mirrorless. Though that may not necessarily mean an announcement for a full frame mirrorless camera.

There is still the possibility of a development announcement for a full frame mirrorless camera.

Updated models registered for certification

By Richard | August 14, 2018 | Canon DSLR Rumors

Nokishita Camera has updated their list of registered Canon models for certification.  As with all registration discoveries, these may or may not be imminent releases.  The model of PC2357 would seem to indicate a mirrorless  (powershot camera) camera with a LP-E6/E6N battery.  Perhaps a beefier M5 in the horizon or a new full frame mirrorless?
