The oddball Canon PowerShot V10 is apparently going to get a successor in Q4 of 2024. We have never used one, but if there's going to be sequel, I guess Canon sees some potential.
Rumoured features fir the PowerShot V10 Mark II include FullHD @ 120fps, enhanced mic over the original along with improved auto-focus and electronic image stabilisation.
It looks like we may get an entire line of PowerShot V cameras this year. We have already seen the 360° and VR PowerShot V concept cameras. There will also be an APS-C sized sensor PowerShot V1 coming to the lineup. A entry level PowerShot V100 has also been confirmed.
After the launch of the Insta360 X4 this week, this space could get very interesting. If Canon is going to have any success with the re-imagined PowerShot brand, they need to put the proper resources into the software experience. Insta360's software seems to be a highlight after watching early reviews of the X4.

My biggest problem is that they partially block the screen with the dead cats on.
I guess it is too small for a stabilized lens.
That would be preferred instead of just electronic stabilization.
Cropping in takes away from the advantage of the one inch sensor.
It seems they always make the rumors by themselves.
But if Canon really release mkii, I hope they use zf605 sensors. It is their own sensor with dual pixel sensor.
Or they can use this HDR sensor. It is small size.
Or their small global shutter

I agree. The battery life is the worst part of this camera. but I still love the thing. I have 2 of them. I use them more than my Insta360 X3.
it's all rumor. planning on a rumor is always perilous. If you want it for the trip, get it. If you don't really need it, wait. I personally have 2 V10!
There is one situation where I use my Rode Wireless II Go or Rode Wireless Pro with the V10. Plug in the mic and clip the receiver to the V10's stand.
Yes, the Pocket 3 looks too delicate, it will take great deal of time to take care of it and waste valuable time shooting. The X4 I believe is for selfie folks, the removal of the selfie stick in the video looks weird to me, maybe because I don't like the wide angle face in the camera look. The V10 is way simple and looks normal to me.
And one more question, do you use any gimbal for the V10, incase I want to shoot stabilized shots.
I dabbled with a phone gimbal for it. It works but I rather use as little accessories as possible. I do try things like ninja walk and I'm more deliberate with movement of the camera. But I don't want to think too much when I use the V10. I want to capture the fun vibe. I usually use Warp Stabilizer in Adobe Premiere to smooth it out if it's too bad. The in-camera digital stabilization is fine if you don't mind the crop-in. There are 2 levels.
Here's a sample 4k video with only addition of music and cuts for editing. I didn't stabilize. I didn't try to change the color. It has poor low light office lighting (the camera was fully auto and did a pretty decent job of compensating). I told her to have fun:
Here's one with some R5 mixed in. The R5 was for the slow motion shots and certain situations where I had time to grab it. But most of it was V10 footage (anything hectic or impromptu). You even see speed walking with no stabilization turned on (so it is shaky but not so bad to be unusable in my opinion. I think footage should be somewhat shaky when you're moving fast. And at the end, you see the restaurant and this restaurant was very dark in real life and it did an admirable job recording (though I did use noise reduction in Adobe Premiere). The purists would probably say if it's really dark, leave it really dark but I wanted to show the food.
Despite the name, I would not carry a Pocket 3 in my pocket.
The Pocket 3 still has its uses but that is one of my main attractions to the V10.
My biggest gripe about the Pocket 3 is that it has a fixed aperture.
