Canon UK appears to have started a teaser campaign of some sort for the summer of 2017. I think it’s safe to say that this is isn’t a teaser for a new product, so don’t get too excited.
Going by the countdown timer, we’ll see what they’re up to next Wednesday.
From Canon UK:
CANON IS BRINGING YOU AN EXCITING SUMMER AND WE WANT YOU TO BE THE FIRST TO HEAR ABOUT IT!
While we don’t want to give too much away just yet, we can tell you that we’ve partnered with some amazing storytellers to inspire and help you get the most out of your summer 2017.
We’ll also be giving away a truly spectacular prize just for sharing your stories with the world. It’s going to be a great summer, so look out for more from us and get ready to live for the story.
(Hint: When the clock hits zero, head over to the Canon website to be the first to know everything!)

According to reports, Tamron will introduce a new 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 later this year. The new version will be a replacement for the current 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC which was announced back in 2012.
As pointed out by Photo Rumors, this is a logical next step as Tamron updated the 70-200 f/2.8 VC to a new version early in 2017.
Sigma recently announced a 24-70mm f/2.8 OS Art series lens that we still can’t order, so Tamron likely has to follow suit.
Some folks are still clamouring for Canon to release a new 24-70 f/2.8L with IS.

We’re told from one of our retail sources that the next camera body from Canon is going to be the Cinema EOS C200.
We posted recently that the Canon EOS 6D Mark II would be coming some time in July, so this camera will likely be coming in the June/July timeframe.
Why wasn’t the Cinema EOS C200 announced for NAB? We’re not sure. We do wonder if availability of the camera will still be a few months down the road.
We do know that the EOS C200 will be 4K and we’re told that it’s “pretty loaded”, though the source wouldn’t elaborate on the full list of specifications.
We also don’t know if this is a replacement to the Cinema EOS C100 Mark II, or an addition to the Cinema EOS camera body lineup.
More to come….

Canon has released new firmware for the recently released Canon EOS M5 mirrorless camera.
Firmware Version 1.0.1 incorporates the following fixes:
- Corrects a phenomenon in which, when the playback grid is set to “6×4”, and a vertical image is displayed, or a horizontal image is rotated to be displayed vertically, the grid does not display correctly.
- In languages other than Japanese, the phrase “no. of shots” has been corrected to “value” in the “Time-lapse movie settings > Interval/Shots” setting screen.
Firmware Version 1.0.1 is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.0.0.
If the camera’s firmware is already Version 1.0.1, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

We’re told that the Canon EOS 6D Mark II will be announced in July of this year, though the exact date is unknown at the time of writing this. The EOS 6D Mark II will also start shipping relatively soon after the announcement, so it’s safe to say you should have your hands on the new camera some time in August, 2017.
Specifications have been extremely hard to come by, and anything out there currently is either made up or just logical features we can expect in the coming body.
We posted a predicted specifications list back in February, but it’s nothing more than conjecture at this point.
We do expect legitimate specifications to leak out in the coming month or so.
We put a [CR2] on this because announcement dates can move, though it’s more common with lenses than with camera bodies.
