More fun specs!
A source from earlier this week has piped up with a new spec list for the T1/2000D.
Specs:
15.1mp
7 AF Points
ISO 100-6400
3fps (Not sure if that includes RAW, current 1000D is 1.5fps)
720P @ 30fps
2.5″ Articulating Screen
cr

7 AF points *LOL*…it’s getting worse
how ever this is true but it sounds ligical. the 2000D got to be under the 500d but better then 1000D. So add a creepy video-function and add some mpx…. done! But the articulatin screen sound cool. Canon got to bash Nikon. But i dont want to have it on my camera. just another thing that breaks easily. Hope the 60D wont have an articulating screen.
Yeah. Masaya “No complaints about AF” Maeda still retains his chair it seems.
The XS/1000D also has 7 AF points, so it should be the same, right?
The current 1000D has 7 AF points.
to be completely honest I found the 7 point system to be at least an equal to that PoS 9 point system they put in almost everything else
I might actually upgrade my 40D if the 60D has a articulating Screen and it is 3 inches.
Otherwise, there is not much to cause me to want a upgrade. I’m really hoping to move up to a 1D Mark IV
If I have an itch for DSLR movie mode, I’d just get this over the 500D, since I already have other Canon DSLR.
I only use one AF point, but its gotta be fast and accurate.
Specs seem plausible. Everything will have video mode from now on.
Hold-on to your classic still DSLR, it might fetch a handsome sum for future collectors.
Why would the cheaper version of the entry model have an articulating screen when the T1i did not?
Because Nikon’s new entry level model, the D5000 has it.
I don’t imagine it getting 15.1 MP’s (too similar to the 500D). This is unless Canon fears that if they put 12MP’s, it will have a better IQ than its big sister and end up outselling it, LOL.
I would hope there is some improvements..why not make it 8 points instead ? :D
Articulating screen? Not a chance. Canon has been leaving this one out for years, despite the fact that lots of people are pining for it. Too much chance of it breaking, probably, and they want to be known for reliable, well-made stuff.
I’ve heard all sorts of arguments over the pros & cons of having an articulating screen. The only thing that matters is that Nikon now has it.
im really looking forward to the video. 30fps that will really make some high quality gay porn. awesome!
6400 ISO? Yeah right… CR0 for sure
Enjoy! I’ll stick to the conventional porn myself.
Just like 30D and the others ‘have’ iso3200. In fact even 5D2 is useless at that setting other than emergency shooting. So it is pure marketing.
The whole idea is to cripple the entry level model for canon not make it better than the one directly above. Anyway, 3 entry level models is a marketing mistake. XSi, T1i, T1. DUMB
Canon marketing has it’s head on backward. But honestly. how many people do you know who went into marketing were among the smartest you knew in school? I’ve got too many friends who went that route because it was easy for them and that’s not saying much.
*its
Well, Canon have mostly become a wait-and-see-what-the-competition-is-doing-then-imitate-them/improve-on-their-ideas sort of company lately.
Decidedly, they (and all other companies) have many prototypes of the same camera and they end up releasing a given model based on what the competitors are doing.
Don’t care about its specs, I just hope they will lose the “Rebel”/”Kiss” badge and go with one, uniform naming convention around the world. Actually, they should call it 5000D so we would have 5D, 50D, 500D and 5000D at available at the same time, something that would not confuse your average clueless newbie. To much to ask, Canon?
Useless ?.. Do you have one ?.
This is just dumb, they should keep the xxxxD line barebone low cost DSLR. They should add spot metering, increase the burst rate, maybe 3 inch screen, up the megapixel to 12 (I don’t care but it is a marketing thing). That is all it needs. I do no want to pay more for video in a bare bone DSLR.
The most suspicious spec is the 15.1mp sensor. I doubt they would use the same resolution sensor in the xxxxD as the xxxD
Justin’s right. No way this will have an articulating screen if it’s coming out soon, otherwise it would have been included on the T1i.
Here’s a different thought. I don’t think I’ve seen this rumor here. What if the T1i is the new entry model and the rumored T1 is actually a T5 or T2 or something to that effect. In this way Canon could throw in all the specs of the T1i, maybe improve the burst a bit and provide the articulating screen that they should have known about a year ago coming out of the Nikon camp? Hell they could even do 1080p at 24fps and top Nikon!
Do it. Do it.
I really hope they keep the megapixels at 12. 12 seems like the best compromise for detail/high ISO. 720P video would be fine for me (still better than what my point & shoot can do), I just want video there as an additional “in case I want it” feature, not as a dedicated hardcore feature, especially considering sound is going to suck with just a built in mono mic (like the 500D) and no audio input if it IS going to be present. If not, I’ll be waiting another camera generation. I don’t know if I’m going to want to upgrade if they’re gonna up the 500D replacement to 17mp though.
Remember, they don’t need to outsell their other models, they need to outsell their competition.
Bah when is there going to be more info on the 2000D? Either it shows up soon or I’m pulling the trigger on the T1i.
Something like 12-15mp and 720p only @ $799 would be amazing.
Interesting article, i will come back to your blog soon, best regards
Your blog is very interresting for me, i will come back here..
Found your site through google search. I have enjoyed reading your posts. Looking forward to more. Thanks!
Hey I just wanted to let you know, I actually like the composition on your web site. But I am using Chromium on a machine running version 9.10 of Xubuntu and the design aren’t quite satisfying. Not a serious deal, I can still essentially read the articles and look for for information, but just wanted to inform you about that. The navigation bar is kind of difficult to use with the config I’m running. Keep up the superb work!
For that past three months, I’ve been waiting for that DVD edition with the Frasier series. I am still fourth in line at my local library to receive these so I was extremely excited to learn that I can Watch High Quality Porn!. My plan was to watch the DVDs on the train whilst commuting to and from function so I’m hoping I have Web access through the tunnels and stations on my route. My wife laughs about my obsession with this, but she is hooked on certain Tv shows herself. I’m wondering if I should tell her that she can watch her shows online also.
