A reader has been questioning Adorama about the availability of the camera, here's what he told me.
“Gave my order # to the CS agent, she said : “looks like they are scheduled to arrive today. but we have no indication where or not they have arrived. They haven't been logged into the computer, so I'm not sure if they have arrived or not. Call back tomorrow to see what your order status is.”

I ordered mine from Adorama on the 17th, but really do not expect the camera until December. It would be nice to get earlier, but I don’t expect it.

Just spoke with Adorama regarding my 5D Mark II order from Sept. 23. The rep stated that they are expecting the shipment tomorrow (Oct. 24) and it will be shipped from their warehouse on Oct. 28th at the latest.
With the current economic crisis and recession fears, job cuts, etc. it would be prudent to ship and bill these cameras to customer credit cards sooner rather than later. Otherwise, people on wait lists may be tempted to cancel their orders.
I have been tempted to cancel my order… the price has gone up 35% since i order it just in the exchange rate. Anyways, now or never.
I’m going to wait and see what the Canadian prices are when they start to sell. I called TheCameraStore.com and they told me that nothing is set in stone especially since the dollar’s dropping like a rock. Now I feel kind of foolish cancelling my pre-order here in the States, but oh well, I’ll just roll with the punches.
I just spoke with Adorama based on Kyle’s comments and “Jorge” there told me that there is no expected shipment at all – so any information you’re getting about a date should be completely untrue, unless one or both of the Adorama techs are not being honest. Who was it that you spoke with there? I think a lot of us would love to get to the bottom of when the actual ship date is.
Has anyone gotten in contact with Amazon? I’m dissapointed I didn’t choose Adorama over Amazon when the pre-orders first became available.

When did you you place your order? It might be that they’re getting in one shipment and filling a certain number of orders on their wait-list, but can’t guarantee when they’ll receive a second shipment. I didn’t get the name of the young woman I spoke with. Honestly, I’d be surprised if it does ship on Monday or Tuesday, given that the Canon release itself stated November. I’ll try again tomorrow and post the resulting information from that conversation. I still won’t believe it 100% until I get a UPS tracking number…

I ordered mine the night of the 17th from Adorama, and last I contacted them regarding the shipping date they said “late November or the first of December” at the latest. I’m skeptical of the October 28th shipping date, but I certainly won’t complain if I get it then.
Off subject here, but what a bad timing for Canon to rejuvenate his most popular FF camera… Nikon was quite right on the timing compare to Canon… Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Canon lover, but that 3 years gap was quite long… and this coming month will also be.
I stopped into the Manhattan store on 18th street today after work. They had a 50D on display and the old 5D. No 5DmkII yet.
you guys are all crazy. The item isn’t even available to order on Canon’s dealer website, so you can’t ship something that can’t be ordered.
Yeah, just got off the phone with Adorama (round 2) and now they’re saying the end of November for arrival. I guess that UPS delivery they were expecting from Canon today got lost in a remote village on the horn of Africa and it will now take a month to get it back to the Adorama warehouse… Friggin’ pirates… Yargh.

Check out the screen capture above for proof. The 5D, XT, and XTi are removed from Canon’s website. Then a few minutes later, there back up, and then down again. something is happening over there.
I just checked with Beach Camera, where I have a 5d mark II on order and the friendly customer service women said that both, the body and lens kit 5d mark II will arrive in 1.5 weeks which would make it November 3rd.
I cant wait…
that smoke you guys are blowing is getting pretty thick.
I don’t know what its worst, waiting 3 years for a MK II or to wait a month to actually get it.
when the H*ll they have new 5D in stock in Aus, I have no idea for my pre-order at the local camera shop. I am going to cancel my pre-order due to the huge drop in Aus currency.
It is better to wait until next year.

what Brian said is gonna be pretty much true for most of you
keep in mind that B&H does not take pre-orders. It will be first come first serve for everyone, so all of us with preorders that don’t really expect to get them on the first batch can also hedge their bets by getting an order in at B&H and then cancelling elsewhere.
Up until Friday morning, we were still expecting them to come in tomorrow (27th), based on what we’d been told by Canon.
Don’t forget, you guys may be frustrated right now – but we get to sit around looking foolish when we can’t fulfill orders because a supplier tells us one thing – but then does something completely different……..!!

I’d be very pleased and suprised to see my body only order from Adorama by early December. I ordered at 2:44 pm on September 17th. according to the order confirmation e-mail I received.
adorama does not have any 5d mark 2’s yet i have spoke to one of the managers and they will not receive any until the middle of november at the earliest. I know everyone wants this camera real bad but what is the point of spreading untrue information about something.

I was reading something else about this on another blog. Interesting. Your linear perspective on it is diametrically opposed to what I read earlier. I am still mulling over the various points of view, but I’m inclined heavily toward yours. And no matter, that’s what is so good about modern democracy and the marketplace of thoughts online.
