This camera was purchased from Pictureline in Salt Lake City, Utah.
This is the 24-105 f/4 IS kit.
On a side note, If you're in the market for a 24-105, they could be getting quite cheap over the next little while on ebay as prices adjust. I might actually pick one up.
UPDATE
Just an FYI in the savings for the 24-105 f/4 IS. If bought in the kit, it costs retailers $408 less (In Canada). I imagine retailers will start to build up a stock of them as people just want bodies only. You can find unboxed 17-85's from kits a lot cheaper than the retail version.

I’ve been thinking about the 24-105, completely forgot that they might start flooding the ebays.
Just picked it up this morning from photo zone in parsipany new jersey. They only had two sent to them they said shipment went down to 5% of what they expected. They also said canon would not be shipping any more till after december. don’t know how true that it is but we will see.
The 24-105 lenses are already dropping in price due to the low price on the older 5D Kits.
Also, remember, you can get $200 off using live cashback in the USA, plus there is a 10% ebay coupon.
I noticed the cashback was at 30% this morning, so $200 off of a approx $650 purchase.
I was at Ritz Camera in Redmond, WA this morning. The guy at the store told me that they’ll receive their shipment in 10 days. Currently, there are more pre-orders of the body only packaged item than what they expect Canon will deliver. They also expect Canon will ship out more kit lens packaged items then what they have in the pre-order list.
Has anybody seen a shipment from Amazon? I pre-ordered there almost immediately after the announcement, but I think Canon is by-passing them complete. What a drag…
i got confirmation of shipment from amazon on saturday, arriving Monday.
i pre-ordered first thing after the announcement on 9/17.
B&H is now taking orders for just the body not the kit. They said that they are only able to take enough orders for the number that they have on their way to B&H from Canon. In other words the cameras are on their way to B&H and they know how many. I was told that the camera would ship out as early as Monday but as late as Friday. I found it interesting that they said the kit would not be available for another week or more. They said they put a number of orders in this morning and were just given the go ahead to allow ordering this morning.
Justin, if you ordered 9/17, you ordered on the second day. I ordered on 9/17 also, but in the evening. Maybe I get handled on the second shipment…
@sfwrtr: i remember it was 9/17 morning that i placed the pre-order, so that probably means you’ll be in the next round.
So does anyone know when the second shipments from Canon are expected? I ordered from Amazon on the 2nd day and all I have is still “Waiting on a Delivery Estimate.”
@Drfl: I just got mine from Amazon today, but they NEVER sent me an email or updated the order status. it just suddenly shipped!
@Justin, not cool. I’m not at my house during the day (for obvious reasons), but I know when the Fedex man comes approx. so I can scurry home during that time. If I don’t know what day it is going to come, I’m going to miss it and have paid next day shipping for not! On the other hand, I would be there for the redelivery, assuming they just don’t leave it on the doorstep!
@Justin, when did they charge your card? Can I go by that perhaps?

I ordered from Ritz on 10-6-08 and I called to see when I would be getting mine. They said they have shipped out everything they got, and I will have to wait for the next shipment from canon. Anyone know when that will be???

We’ve had the camera for about a year now and we’ve taken thousands for photos and they all look amazing. I never thought I would get used to carrying around a DSLR but now I can’t go anywhere without it. The pictures you get with this camera just don’t compare to pictures taken with a point
