Canon USA has added support for thea cropping guide feature via a paid firmware upgrade for the EOS R6 Mark II and EOS R8. These are the first Canon full-frame cameras to support the feature.

Canon introduced this firmware late last year for the EOS R50, EOS R10 and EOS R7. It has been quite well received by certain types of photographers, such as school, sport team portraits and I imagine other types of portrait work.

The firmware update costs $120 USD and the camera must be shipped to a Canon USA service center for the upgrade.

You can preorder both the EOS R6 Mark II and EOS R8 with the feature already installed.

Why Cropping Guide?

  • Consistency: Whether you're capturing school photos, sports events, or any scenario where subjects need to stand in the same spot repeatedly, Cropping Guide ensures everyone is perfectly positioned.
