It looks like Canon may be discontinuing both the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III and PowerShot SX740 HS sooner than expected.
We reported a while ago that Canon would be discontinuing both cameras in the first half of 2025. The PowerShot G7 X Mark III was announced in 2019 and the PowerShot SX740 HS was announced in 2028. So, their time has come, one way or another.
Canon is obviously going to be moving production resources over to the new PowerShot V1 and the next “V” series PowerShot cameras on the horizon.

PowerShot G7 X Mark III & SX740 HS Orders Suspended
For the moment, Canon has announced that they are only suspending orders for the PowerShot G7 X Mark III and SX740HS. That’s not a declaration that the cameras are discontinued, but it may accelerate the inevitable.
We’ll let you figure out on your own possible reasons why orders would be suspended for two cameras that are made in China. We’re not sure currently where the PowerShot V1 is being manufactured.
The Canon PowerShot V1 will be officially announced globally on March 26, 2025.
It’s still possible that orders will resume and more PowerShot G7 X Mark III and PowerShot SX740HS will make their way to retailers.
There’s probably no surprise to anyone that the Canon PowerShot V1 has appeared on the supply issues list. I’m sure both the EOS R50 V and EOS RV will make an appearance in short order after they are announced on March 26.
