Today, DJI has announced the DJI Osmo Nano Action camera, designed to be an ultra-small action camera that can be taken and used anywhere.

This action camera is tiny. Weighing in at 52g, and 57mm x 29mm x 28mm, waterproof up to 33ft or 10m when it's not connected to its docking station (then it drops down to IPX-4 splash protection).

The multifunction dock is also compact, measuring 59.1×42.2×22.3mm and weighing 72g. It features a 1.96″ OLED touchscreen with 314×556 resolution, a Micro SD slot, and a replaceable battery. The camera itself has built-in storage and charges when it's connected to the docking station. DJI claims that you can get around 1 hour of 4K30 from the camera itself. Including the dock charge time, DJI states this can achieve up to 200 minutes of total recording time.

Of course, the main component of this camera is the sensor. The DJI Osmo Nano sports a new 1/1.3” 35MP CMOS image sensor with an f/2.8 lens with a field of view of 143 degrees. The focus range is from .35m to infinity. The maximum resolution for still images is 6880 x 5160 pixels, and the camera can capture both JPEGs and raw photos. The ISO range of the camera is ISO 100-25600, with an electronic shutter speed ranging from 1/8000th of a second to 30 seconds.

Video shooting is, of course, what this is built for, and for that, you can shoot up to 4k60fps with a slow motion capability of up to 1080p240fps. The camera offers 10-bit video and DJI's own D-Log M flat profile, making it easier to grade footage taken from this camera, especially if you are using other DJI products that support the D-Log M flat profile, such as the DJI Mini 4 Pro, DJI Air 3, DJI Avata 2, and DJI Flip. The resolution and framerates for the Nano are summarized as;

  • 4K (4:3): 3840 × 2880@24/25/30/48/50fps
    4K (16:9): 3840 × 2160@24/25/30/48/50/60fps
    2.7K (4:3): 2688 × 2016@24/25/30/48/50/60fps
    2.7K (16:9): 2688 × 1512@24/25/30/48/50/60fps
    1080p (4:3): 1920 × 1440@24/25/30/48/50/60fps
    1080p (16:9): 1920 × 1080@24/25/30/48/50/60fps

The DJI Osmo Nano also supports the following slow-motion frame rates;

  • 4K: 4x (120fps)
  • 2.7K: 4x (120fps)
  • 1080p: 8x (240fps), 4x (120fps)

The DJI Osmo Nano also features DJI’s RockSteady 3.0 electronic stabilization (this is not supported in slow-motion modes), and you can optionally activate horizon balancing (available only in 16:9 modes). The camera also features a timelapse and hyperlapse mode, as well as a SuperNight mode.

The DJI Osmo Nano has built-in microphones and is also compatible with DJI's own Mic Mini via OsmoAudio.

The Osmo Nano pricing is quite aggressive, as it is being released at a significantly lower price than the Insta360 Go Ultra and the GoPro Hero 13 Black. Considering that the DJI Osmo Nano also includes built-in storage, which the others do not have, this is a notable advantage.

There are two different packages and versions available. The Osmo Nano Standard Combo (64GB) will retail for approximately €279 in Europe, and the Osmo Nano Standard Combo (128GB) is priced at around €309 in Europe. Currently, you can purchase the 128GB model on Amazon for $329.

Will this be coming to the United States?

Well, maybe. As of right now, you may have noticed that B&H and Adorama aren't selling it, it's not currently available in the USA, and according to Techradar, DJI had this to say

DJI remains dedicated to the US market and is optimizing our strategy to best serve our customers amidst evolving local conditions.

You can read whatever you want out of that. As of right now, though, it's oddly on sale on Amazon, so if you want this, you should pick it up before it disappears.
