Welcome to the first Friday and weekend in October! As we roll into October we have some alternative use case items, a great bundle and a worthy replacement for those things Canon calls their own speedlights.
Lexar 2TB CFexpress Type B Card GOLD Series

We featured this deal earlier, and it’s continuing through the entire weekend. Our normal deals, I am told not to babble too much, but in these articles I can go nuts ;)
This deal not only looks fantastic if you are eyeing a Canon camera that uses CF Express Type B (I see you R3, R5 and R1’s), but these cards also can serve other use cases.
These can also double as emergency laptop backup devices when travelling. A small-sized card can be inconspicuously tucked away almost anywhere. I wouldn’t use this for nightly backups, but there have been some locations where I have been travelling from airport to hotel where the thought of carrying an emergency laptop backup made a lot of sense in the case of theft. While insurance can cover the loss of hardware, it can’t cover the loss of time and effort to set your computer back up again.
A little paranoid? Perhaps – but you’ll be thanking me if this happens to you and you followed my paranoid thought patterns. Yes, an external NVMe or dedicated device is less expensive, but they are not as small as this card.
With 2TB of storage, these cards certainly now extend to uses far beyond that of our cameras.

NanLite FS-300B Bi-Color LED Video Spotlight

I’m always looking out for neat continuous or studio strobes, just because, well, I used to have a studio so many long year ago. It amazes me how far the industry has come through the years, and how inexpensive good gear can be had.
The primary reason for getting continous lighting is for video, but it’s not the only reason.
If you are just starting out with studio lighting continuous light sources are always a good place to start as you can see the effects of your light modifications immediately.
Having cool LED’s are certainly better than the massive incadensent lightbulb heads we used to have to use (perhaps I just dated myself here).
I like this studio light also because it also features a Bowens mount – which means you can put on just about an endless amount of studio light modifiers from barndoors, beauty dishes, grids, scrims, snoots, and even softboxes.

NEEWER NW665-C E-TTL II Speedlite Flash

I personally gravitate to recommending Godox flashes, but this deal was too good to pass up. It has a guide number of around 60m at ISO 100 and 200mm zoom which makes it a pretty powerful speedlight. Includes Lithium battery for fast charging and recycling times, and best of all – you can get a bazillion of them for the price of one of Canon’s ill fated EL-1s. It is also 2.4G wireless as well.
Backed by Amazon’s nearly no questions asked return policy – a 50% savings for a limited time is too good not to mention here. Buy a few – the price is an absolute bargin.
