A Little Bit of Info on the Canon RF 20-50mm f/4L IS USM PZ

I still hope it's 1kUSD or slightly below
I can't see this being less than the 14-35, particularly if the size suggests less reliance on software corrections.

I do hold out hope on the zoom action - the 'Ordinary Filmmaker' video certainly seemed to be saying that it wasn't just a rocker-in-the-shape-of-a-ring but was in fact a zoom ring with custom menu settings to control sensitivity etc.

If this is as large as the 24-105/4L then I'm probably less excited than I was originally, as that's a bit chunky to be an ideal walk around lens - I was hoping for something closer to the 14-35. Not too long to wait for confirmation, hopefully.

i can see this lens being less useful than the 14-35. what an odd focal range for an f4 zoom

My bet if it has a red ring: Same outer shell dimensions like the VCM series incl. 67mm filter thread!
If they use high optical correction and a very effective internal "lens hood" design this lens might replace my EF 16-35 f/4 and RF 24-105 which are good lenses but I never loved them.
PZ would be a great addition (1) generally and (2) on a gimbal.
I more and more like the idea to use this one on my R50 V where it has a close to ideal range (for me!) from 32 to 80mm!

I hope Canon will not sacrifice quality for size or weight.
I don't mind a lens being big or a bit on the heavy side, or being software corrected.
As long as the corners are sharp, since I'm mostly taking pictures of landscapes, cities or macros.

At first, I was thinking that this is something of a duplicate of the 14-35, but a bit longer. And it kind of is - but, I think in conjunction with a video-oriented camera, this (providing its' not too heavy) would be a nice walkabout lens for photo/videographing street scenes and indoor event situations where you are more inclined to grab quick table shots or people where you want to include the environment. But going to 50 gives you some portraiture capability as well.

I know, it seems that the trend is to go wide to get that "big nose phone camera" look that so many produce, but that just makes people look weird and distorted to me, and should be used sparingly.
