Bug Fix: Canon EOS R5 Mark II Firmware v1.3.1 Released

"Added American football to the list of supported sports for the Action Priority feature. When this feature is enabled, the detection of people will be optimised for individuals wearing American football helmets and shoulder pads."
Has anyone tried using this for the grown up version without the sissy padding and helmets and endless ad breaks: i.e. Rugby Union and Rugby League?

As a retired rugby player (I retired in the 1990s), I see more testosterone in any American football game than in any rugby league in the world.
As for your specific question, I haven't made the leap to playing without a mirror yet.

Well they need no endurance so can be super pumped up for the very short bursts of game time between ad breaks whereas try keeping that up for 80 minutes of continuous action ;)

Actually, with 1.3.0, I started to see some cases of false positive in auto focus eye detect, which I had not seen before with R5 Mark ii. I cannot be sure, but I wonder if anyone else has had such feeling about the camera underperforming in autofocus after the last upgrade? In any case, I hope 1.3.1 resolves any potential issues around focusing if 1.3.0 had caused some other detrimental impacts too.

I am able to make a similar comment.

Specifically, from 'Far':

I too find the camera underperforming in autofocus after the last upgrade (with RF 200-800 attached)

My experience differs from yours: I took 2800+ bird pictures with the R5 Mk II with firmware 1.3 + RF 200-800 and did not notice any difference in AF performance compared with firmware 1.2.0.

A bit off topic, but for those with the R6 II it is worth downloading the v1.7.0 Firmware. For this new feature: "Added Wi-Fi freq. band to Communication Settings, allowing selection of 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz when switching from Bluetooth to Wi-Fi."
I've tested this and for me selecting 5 GHz works significantly faster and more reliable then 2.4 GHz.

Hey Canon! We Are still waiting for 4K60 « Fine » on the R5 Mark II

I’m wondering if you could at least add a 4K60 “fine” mode to the canon EOS R5 mark II for the CF-R20EP fan grip owners,

even if it is tied to the use of the CF-R20EP fan grip,
even if it is only available with fan set to high,
and even if it is limited to 30 minutes recording?

I think a lot of people would be so happy as it seems to be THE major request/complaint made by everyone thinking about getting the R5 mark II for its hybrid capabilities, and THE major reason why a lot of people turn their choice to a lower priced R6 Mark III or R6V, or even to the competition (Sony, Nikon).

I don’t think that would cannibalize either sells of lower or higher end products in the line-up, because not everyone needs, want or can afford the R5 Mark II, and some others prefer the Cinema OS and features (timecode, no IBIS, Shutter angle etc…) of the upper grade Cinema line…

In case any Canon Rep is passing by and reading this, and hopefully passing the message to the firmware upgrade team…

Thank you!
