5D3 Bracketing

Hello Guys,

I was doing an interior shoot today and was Bracketing 3 shots so i could merge them later, But what I did realize that the camera did not cancel the bracket series after I took the 3 shots, it kept on going? am I doing something wrong? camera was set to 1 Shot, is this normal? I remember on the 5D2 that after you took a 3 shot bracket you had to re do your bracket setup and this is what I liked, as you know when your finished,

I'm not sure I have the correct functions set, I tried with both auto Bracketing Cancel enabled and disabled, it did nothing?

any help pls


also it makes no sense that the camera can take continuous 3 burst bracket once set to a 10 sec timer count down, but will not do that with the mirror lock up enabled, BUT WILL, if you select HDR mode! ugh! and have mirror lock up enabled!!!!!

Hi Keith, thanks for your reply, I just tried it now, and its enabled, and I took a burst of 3 and it went back to start again at the beginning? is bracketing not meant to disappear with these feature enabled?

are you talking about HDR mode or bracketing?

That's just how AEB works. Unless you turn the camera off or switch modes, the bracket you selected will remain until you zero it out.

I find this very useful when composing HDR shots, as I often like to take more than one series of them.

Now, I could be wrong about this, since I forgot to bring my camera with me today (sigh), so I can't test it out. BUT, normally when you set an AEB sequence, it will stick until you turn the camera off or reset the AEB sequence to zero. If you want the AEB to stick even after you turn the camera off/on, you can toggle this function. And if you didn't complete the AEB sequence the camera may retain that info as well when powered off/on. But I would definitely double check this before taking my word on it.

This is useful for those that do a lot of HDR photography, or simply a lot of AEBing. Personally, I have one of my custom modes set to a fixed f/8 aperture with AEB at -2EV, 0EV, +2EV and ISO at 100 as my default "HDR Mode". Way easier than modifying those settings in Av each time I want to get an HDR shot.
