After the 1D MK IV's sold out, the 70-200mm f/2.8 MK II's were added back in to the refurb store. I bought one as a consolation just now.

I'll compare it with the one I bought a year ago for full price but returned because of the weight. I've sold some of my "L" lens collection and I'll have to decide if I'll keep this one or the f/4L IS. I doubt if anyone could pry my 135mm L away from me though, but my 85mm f/1.8 might go away, its very good, but does not seem to get a whole lot of use on my 5D MK II or 1D MK III, and 85mm is well covered with my 24-105 and the 70-200. I'll probably have to think about letting the 85 go very carefully.

Mine went soon after I bought the 85mm f/1.2L II. I still have a few regrets about that - the 85mm f/1.8 was quite sharp, and focused very fast (but then, snails move fast compared to the focusing elements of the 85L). But, I used the 85mm f/1.8 on a T1i and a 7D, and since I really liked the focal length, after getting a 5DII I also got a 135mm f/2L.

I find that for almost any situation where I'd want the 85mm f/1.8, the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II does just as well if not better. If I really wanted to use the lens at f/1.8, then I'd want the option of going wider, too.

I had two 35mm L's and two 135mm L's due to a package deal that they were included with. I kept them for a while, but finally decided to let them go when used prices went crazy.

I could put one 35 on the 1D MK III and the other on the 5D MK II and get slightly different coverage, but I can crop images from the 5D MK II and get about the same number of pixels as my 1D provided, so I use my 50mm on the 1D to get a 85mm point of view.

The 50mm 1.4 is good for the price, mine cost $350 new about 2 years ago. If upgraded I might consider replacing it.

I'll have to wait and see before getting a 85mm L. A new FF camera that is 1 plus stops faster would make f/2.8 quite usable in many instances where I use the 85 now.
