Just ordered 2 1DX bodies from Martin's Cameras in the UK: £4,995.00 (including VAT) Has anyone found any cheaper stores?

I believe < GBP 5.0k is a good price - the price in Germany is going to be EUR 6.299,00 (> GBP 5.3k).
Do you expect to receive your 1DX right away from the start (end of April)? I was wondering about the monthly production output for the 1DX? Nikon is capable of producing 30k D800 and 5 or 6k D4 a month.

I believe Canon was quoted as saying they expect to produce 7,000 a month for the 1DX

I hope the pre-order price isn't equally fictitious.

For the record I pre-ordered mine from Jessops. £300 extra is something I'm willing to pay to be able to take my camera to one of their high street stores locally if anything goes wrong.

If Nikon (and the D800) is a proxy: 30,000 units/ month... do they have any production sites in Thailand and have they been affected by the flood in 2011, fully recovered?

I've been dealing with Martins camera's for about 5 years now and have always gotten first class service, I don't expect to see anything till at least 2nd week in May.

i believe initial production was 7000 units a month. Tried a pre-production model in November and was impressed.
Still have to decide on new body but will probably wait until after Euro2012 and Olympics and beat the £5k barrier.
