5DMK2 just dropped from canon website.

The 5d2 is dropped from their USA website, but they still list the Rebel t2i??? (Along with the t3, t3i, t4i, t5i, SL1). Isn't it about time some of those went away?

I saw that, too. Apparently Canon is going to drop the T4i and have the T3i run alongside the T5i (probably just updating the name badge from a "4" to a "5" since that's the only difference between the models. New camera solely to sell their new STM kit lens?). I can't imagine the T2i sticking around for much longer, but they must still have a fair bit of stock if it's still up there.
....I don't see why. Nothing's really changed for stills since. I'd pay $300 less for the same camera sans swivelly-screen.
Oh wait, I did.
T3's probably going to be hanging around for a while, though.

I've been saying for a while now the T3i is the biggest bargain going for anyone in the market for a rebel
especially if they want to do video, its the only one with the 3x digital video zoom still! which is much more beneficial than the not very good video af

They had better drop the 5D Mark III from the website and put a 5D Mark IV or 5DX on the market.

Then again, now that they're dropping the two anomaly SLRs (5DII and T3 as soon as the B is out), they only have one SLR in the whole range that isn't 18MP. That looks to me like a lack of creativity.

Ehm, 5D3 and 6D? that's two if I count correctly? But, on the other hand I do agree that Canon needs more diversity in their lower end bodies. is it 8 or 9 bodies now with 18 mp? 7D, 60D, SL1, 700D, 650D, 600D, 550D, 1DX (yes it is 18mp, hehe)...did I miss anyone?

Not quite, as you're only considering resolution. If you've ever played with a RAW file from the 1DX in Lightroom, you'd quickly realize that the resolution doesn't matter at all with that camera.

No, resolution is exactly and specifically what I'm talking about. A "range" of cameras should have a range of resolutions, but Canon seems to think 18MP is the one-size-fits-all resolution. Seasoned photojournalists and complete newbies alike, everyone gets one resolution. Like Henry Ford: "Any customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants so long as it's black."

You don't understand. Why are you so worried about resolution? There are tons of other things about a sensor than resolution. A 5D Mark III file has 22 MP and a 1DX has 18 MP. The 1DX file is superior. There are other aspects of each camera's sensor that do have a "range" as you call it. Why are you stuck on resolution?

5D MK II is one of the most revolutionary cameras of all time ... one day (many years down the line) even if after it stops working, I bet it will still be one of the most wanted collector's items for many photographers.

Over here in South Africa, Canon is selling (and heavily advertising) the EOS 5D Mk.II for R15500, which is a bargain considering the Mk.III retails for R30000 and the 6D for R21000.

I'm seriously considering one of those 5D Mk.II cameras - as it also includes a local, Canon-backed, two-year warranty. Well, should I or is the 6D that much better?
