Hi,

I recently bought the 100-400 L II to use it instead of my 600 L II in some situations. The other day I had both with me and photographed the same subject with both. At that moment I wasn't meaning to test them side by side. But later I looked at the results side by side, because I was curious how much of a compromise the 100-400 is vs the big one.

I attach the comparative image for you to come to your own conclusion. Both combinatioins were shot wide open, however with differenct cameras. 600 L was on the 5DII, 100-400 on the 6D. They were edited differently. 100-400 got more sharpening. This might look not scientific, but it is not meant to be. It is real life.

I posted some shots of the 2xTCIII on the 100-400mm II on the 7DII in another thread. The resolution was incredible.
