Basically, there's a shortage of BG-E9. According to this article, demand is greater than what was originally expected, so it's going to take some time to get the product to users (if that's the case for the Japanese market, you could probably imagine the situation worldwide...)

The grip was released on September 18 in Japan.

That would be a pain. I picked up my 7D grip last week, just by walking in to the camera store off the street. The camera feels a million times better in my hand than it did without the grip. So much more comfortable. I hope you uh.... get a grip soon!
