with the 7D Mk II and the t6* being released. Any rumors about a upgrade for the 70D line? maybe a 70Dx? 80D? do we think we are 1-2 years away?

Imho no way Canon is going to de-value their new 7d2 anytime soon by updating the 70d. It's more likely there won't be an 80d, ever, as the t6i has the 19pt af system by now - even though it lacks afma and fw customization. We might only see a complete reshuffle once Canon includes serious mirrorless and evf cameras.
On the positive side: As the 70d is getting a bit older, it has Magic Lantern by now

The consumer cameras get updated more frequently than Pro models, a 80D will likely arrive next year, possibly this fall. I have not heard any solid Rumors yet.
Beware, there are lots of websites with really unreliable rumors. Canon Rumors grades the quality of Rumors. CR1 is just something to discuss, and is not a reliable Rumor.
CR2 is from a source that tends to provide good information, and there is a backup providing similar info.
CR3 means its confirmed, and seldom falls thru.
Another Site to check is Keith Coopers North Light Images. It has a huge amount of valuable and accurate photography and printing information, and as a secondary feature, Keith Summarizes rumors so you can see ones that have been posted over time.
