7D Mk II Availability Question

Hello, I have yet to pre-order the 7D Mk II, but plan on doing it very soon. Amazon and B&H say that availability begins on October 30th. I am shooting a football game on Saturday, November 1st. If I got 1-day shipping, do you think it would be unreasonable to expect to receive a copy in time?

For example, if I pre-order an iPhone and it is coming out on a Friday, Apple ships it early so it arrives on Friday, as opposed to shipping it on that Friday. I am not sure if Canon follows this practice.

Is there anyway I can get a 7D Mk II Body in time to shoot the football game?

Would you really want to shoot a football game with a camera you have not become familiar with? It will take longer than one day just to get through the manual and settings.

Personally, I'd like to get it for a Friday night game. I have it pre ordered and aren't confident it will be here that quick. I'd say your best bet, since you waited so long, would be to find it local and pick it up in store because there already a lot of people in line ahead of you. Good luck.

The manual is online and I don't imagine it's going to be that much different from any other Canon camera, except maybe AF and those settings are already on the newer bodies.

Depends on if the vendors get an allotment that exceeds their preorder queue, how quickly they fulfill them, and if they offer Saturday delivery.

Bottom line, I wouldn't count on it. Buying locally is a better bet.

Best have a pre-charged LP-E6 to use, also.

According to chuck westfall, cameras will be shipping from canon warehouses to authorized dealers starting on oct 30th. Dealers won't be shipping to customers for several days after that potentially. Even those who got their preorder in very early will not realistically receive cameras until 11/5 at the soonest.

I would count myself lucky if mine goes out in the first shipment.

Do you think Adorama or B&H will let you cut in line?

Best Buy Stocking 7D Mkii's right now

I picked one up at my local Best Buy. I checked online just now (November 4th, 1:38 pm CTZ), and a number of local Best Buys here in Houston show availability for immediate pickup.

So if you want one today, check your local Best Buy. If they have it, buy it online and motor over to pick it up . . .
