8-15mm Fisheye owners - Is your copy centered?

I noticed my copy of the 8-15mm fisheye is not centered. The distance between the image circle and the left side of the image is shorter then the right side. Top and bottom is correct.

Can other owners check their copy?

I'd expect an L lens to be flawless in build. So if others dont have this, I'm exchanging it at the shop.

When zoomed-out to its widest (8mm on my full frame 5D3) my image circle is off-center just a hair to the left when viewed in portrait-orientation. When I first purchased this lens several years ago I too freaked-out a bit over the 8mm image-circle not being perfectly centered. So I very carefully & thoroughly checked the image quality of the lens and found it to be (just as most every review on the net) one of the most nicely color-saturated & contrasty, and easily one of the sharpest lenses I've owned; and not to brag, but I've got a lot of lenses... So I decided not to mess with a good situation... Since then I've never looked back... Especially since I typically crop-out the extreme periphery where all fully-round fisheye images fall completely apart... So I'm just happy as a clam with my 8-15 fisheye!

I also found someone on another site that had this. I think it might be a build tolerance. Other lenses probably do the same thing, but as they dont vignet in total blackness, you neven even know.

I am, like you, really happy with the overal quality of the lens. But as its the most i've ever payed for a lens, it kind of freaked me out.

Same here with my 8-15mm, there's a very slight shift of the image circle but this is inconsequential to the end result given the stellar performance of this lens!

Actually, this issue is specifically addressed on page "ENG-3" of the manual:

"Since this is an interchangeable lens, the center of the image circle of the circular fisheye and the
center of the image sensor are out of alignment. Also, there are times when vignetting, which
occurs in the four corners of an image, is not uniform."

as pointed out, all lenses do that, one usually just does not see it. As the manual states, these are interchangeable lenses, the center of the lens may not exactly coincide with the center of the sensor.
In fact, if you mount a lens, before it locks into place, you will notice that you can shift it around in the mount quite a bit.
If you do vignetting tests with other lenses, you will see asymmetric hard vignetting also with other lenses. http://photonius.wikispaces.com/Vignetting
