760D was just released so the 80D will not be out any time soon time. My guess is that the 80D will only be released November 2016.

Current 70D is still really good camera, I don't think there's need for an update for a while.

However now when we're talking about it, I suspect that the joystick could be returning to the XXD -series? I mean, 760D got the back wheel and top-LCD AND same AF system as 70D, so why wouldn't canon upgrade XXD series controls, too. Especially as 80D should get more AF points (not as many as 7DII tho), the joystick would ease the use of those points.

I suppose it's about time to release some FF cameras first.
The latest xxD releases were mostly in springtime, so maybe April 2016 might be the time for an 80D.

But there've been rumors that the 760D got so many features from the 70D that maybe we won't see a new xxD anymore. I don't think so, but who knows...

Weak yen + the 7D2 dropping towards $1100 in price (for a far greater camera) forces the 70D downwards. The T6s will provide a price floor for it (which will also be moving downwards).

canon is due for an 80D there trying too be in a 2-3 year max new camera cycle since nikon and or sony is dropping cameras faster then time every 1-2 years there making a new DIGIC processor there already testing the DIGICS 7 in the wild somewhere so why not the T6 models did damage the 70D sales that why u can get 1 if u look good new for $800 with a lens great deal and also the 7D2 prices are going down i suspect the announcement in AUG/SEPT is either a 80D or powershot camera or it maybe a a shocker and be a 5D mark 4 or 6D mark 2 announcement

I wish Canon would start putting at least APS-H or full frame sensors in their mid grade bodies.

With an overall IQ deficit I think that running bigger sensors would be a perfect way of countering the competition.
If Canon doesn't start using BSI in the next year then larger sensors would be absolutely necessary to stay competitive.

It that a FACT? Can you link us to some figures? Sony is selling sensors to most camera companies, but their camera sales have not been very good, and, like everyone else, sales are dropping.

No one is getting rich selling cameras but Canon seems to be pocketing a lot more profit than the others. Their profits have been climbing every year.

You can see from this that they are struggling to keep from going out of business. They are doing better, they only lost just over $1 billion dollars last year.

At the rate they are going, they will have to split up the company, but they refuse to do it. Sony is borrowing $4 billion to invest in sensors, they are so hurt by the big losses that they have to borrow to build any new plants.

As it stands, their sensor business and playstation business are their only going concerns.

It's called the 6D...

And APS-H is DEAD! You can't use it on EF-S lenses, the image circle is too small..... you need the full EF image circle, and at that point you might as well go all the way to FF..... like the 6D.....

I'd really be totally stunned to see a 6D II pop before a 1DX II or a 5D IV. I still think we get announcements on both those later two I mentioned before year's end.
