My bet is you won't see a xxd 2.0 firmware ever - Canon isn't in the habit of adding free features to minor models.

Take it or leave it, esp. deliberate cripplings (like the missing spot af 7d->70d) are there for a reason and unless the market situation drastically changes and the camera needs a serious boost, you're supposed to buy a 80d or 5d3/5d4.

But rejoice: The first alpha of Magic Lantern for 70d is out, that's much better than any Canon fw update could be.

But rejoice: The first alpha of Magic Lantern for 70d is out, that's much better than any Canon fw update could be.

The 5D3 doesn't have a v2 firmware and that's been out for 3 years, but Magic Lantern has added much more functionality to my camera than any Canon firmware update will ever do.
