Best lens for sunrise/sunset/lightning pics using a Canon 5D MK111

Whats the best lens for sunrise/sunsets/lightning pics?
Either Canon or a lens with a Canon mount.
It will be used on a Canon 5D MK111(full frame)

800mm with teleconverter?

In this case, Canon 16-35mm F4L seems a better choice, and aperture F4 would be no problem, as these situations need tripod anyway.

That depends on how much of the scene you would like to include in your photo other than the sun. As a generalization, I would recommend a lens somewhere in between the two suggested 8)
