Best settings for 7d with 300f2.8

I have a 7d and 300f2.8. I am going to Norway to photograph sea eagles in July and want to get the settings of everything 100% and practice, practice, practice before I travel.

Can I get advice on optimum settings for the camera.

I would suggest iso100, f/8 and 1/500 would be a good place to start. Slow shutter for slow wing speed
