All - I spoke with August at J&R Music in NYC (I've been buying from them since the mid 70s - trusted source). Though not on their site, August gave me the OK to put this listing here. if you call him directly he will sell you the 5D Markiii with the kit lens for $4169 vs. $4299. Their number is : 800-806-1115 his extension is 1041. They are (like most resellers) presently out of stock on this item but they expect shipment soon. Their web site is jr.com. You must ask for August as no other sales rep will offer this price.

Good price. I thought about the kit lens but decided to go with the 70-200II. This way I can think about getting the 24-70II also.

Did you get the camera and then add the 70-200 or just the 70-200 on its own? Reason I ask is the 24-105 is considerably more when purchased separately

Sorry I don't have mine yet. Up to a week ago I was still contemplating on getting a 1DsIII. The reason I'm getting the 70-200II is that it's sharper than the 24-105 and then I can look at getting the 24-70II. I think a person will save around $400 when purchasing the 24-105 in a kit. I don't think you can get a 70-200 in a 5DIII kit (at least not around here).

There is no 70-200 kit there had been talk about a Pro Kit with the new 24-70 II, especially in Oceania, but also once mentioned for the US, however with the 24-70II delay and all the talk of the pro kit seems to have dried up. (It had been planned to offer a $300 savings so it wasn't relatively speaking as much a % savings as the lower end kit that is available currently.)

Yes they got a big batch in today, mine arrives tomorrow. Thanks again for pointing out the deal, it finally got the price (combined with 4% cashback from CC and selling the kit lens) to where I was willing to give the 5D3 a go.
