Canon extend EOS 1D mark IV warranty

"Canon has announced that it is extending its offer of a free two-year warranty for the EOS-1D Mark IV to include all cameras that are purchased before 30 June 2012." Taken from official europe website.

Does this sound like something they would do to encourage more sales before a new release?

What are your thoughts?

I'd say it's more to just encourage sales in what is going to be a trying economic period, not neccessarily related to a specific release. but I wouldn't mind being wrong.
